The role
To achieve our goal, we are building small agile teams that are responsible for delivering end to end capabilities that include innovating and building entirely new products and continued enhancement of the products we have already brought to the marketTo enable these teams, we are bringing a diverse set of talent together and are seeking experienced software developers to add to these small agile teamsThe software developer will work with the team to design, develop, implement, optimize and maintain our solutionsThe software developer will be responsible to educate on new initiatives and technologies that help to improve and enhance the lumen edge compute.
To be successful as a software developer, you will lead the ideas, design, development and implementation of cutting-edge cloud products and components in support of our lumen edge compute products and servicesIn this role, you must be ready to engage in building a global platform at large scale using the best software development practices and staying current with industry trends.
This role is within the edge bare metal productEbm is responsible for providing the foundational infrastructure that lumen edge runs on as well as a consumable product for both internal and external customersAs a lumen edge compute bare metal software developer, you will have a focus on building our orchestration technologiesThe ideal candidate will meet many of the experience requirements defined below, specific experience developing an orchestrator is preferredIn ebm, we not only build the cloud our consumers use, but we also provide the infrastructure that supports our cloud and the entire platform.
The main responsibilities
Software developer responsibilities:
Collaborating within the small team and across the larger set of agile teams identifying optimal solutions for the bare metal product
Building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure
Understanding the need of the feature and building the functionality
Automating and improving development and release processes
Designing, developing, and deploying modular systems
Testing and examining code written by others and analyzing the results
Regularly reviewing existing systems and making recommendations for improvements.
Interacting with internal consumers, providing support, and making design recommendations and decisions
What we look for in a candidate
Software developer requirements:
Degree in computer science or a similar field
At least 3 years of experience in the field of computing
Experience with java and/or groovy is essential
Experience working with multiple api’s and orchestrating calls between entries
Experience writing terraform providers is preferred
Experience with test driven development (tdd) is preferred
Experience with python, bash or other to automate tasks across a large installation
Experience with operating system automation and wide scale deployments
Experience with network basic network concepts
Troubleshooting and analytical skills
