Position overview
The srSite reliability engineer- storage & backup will be responsible for the entirety of lightbox’s technical backup strategy and storage solutionsThis role will be creating, implementing, and maintaining a professionally designed backup solution to enable company defined rto and rpo objectives in physical and virtual environmentsThis individual will be responsible to maintain and administrate this backup ecosystem with constant strides to optimize performance, hardware, and backup strategiesThis position will also be responsible for the care, maintenance, and improvement of lightbox’s physical storage-based solutions (nas/san) and ensure proper accounting, care, and documentations are handled and reported up to senior management.
What you will do and achieve
Develop, implement, and maintain backup strategy for lightbox’s technical needs spread over multiple environments (virtual, physical, on-prem and in cloud).
Collaborate with other infrastructure engineers, architects, dbas, and engineering teams to ensure all aspects of lightbox’s technical ecosystem are reliably backed up.
Create and enable new sop for identifying new backup targets or needs within lightbox’s ecosystem.
Provide clear, and continually updated, documentation of all backup processes.
Provide training and guidance on backup and recovery related technologies to other members of the infrastructure team.
Continually monitor, maintain, and improve lightbox’s physical storage solutions(nas/san)
Propose improvements and solutions to management to improve legacy environments and net new infrastructure obtained by lightbox.
Who you are
Education
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related filed from an accredited institution, or equivalent relevant experience required.
Experience
10+ years managing/supporting enterprise level backup strategies and solutions for virtual and physical environments both on-prem and in the cloud.
10+ years managing/supporting enterprise grade nas/san technologies.
7+ years managing cloud-based storage.
7+ years managing cloud-based backup strategies and technologies.
Key knowledge & skills
Microsoft os backup strategies.
Linux os backup strategies.
Nas/san file-based backup strategies.
Cloud infrastructure backup solutions/strategies (azure/aws).
Virtualization backup strategies (vmware/hyper-v/nutanix).
Enterprise level backup technology and processes (commvault, cloudberry, veem, aws backup, etc.).
Backup monitoring and alerting.
Backup metric capturing.
Training.
Documentation.
Core competencies
Self-managed.
Strong business professional communication skills.
Project management skills.
Ability to mentor and assist team members.
Strong leadership qualities.
Physical requirements
