Position summary: the primary responsibility of the systems requirements engineering will be to use a systems approach provide definitions for behavior and requirements definition for development and continuation projectsIncluded in these responsibilities are, identifying and solidifying use-cases, top level activity diagrams, interfaces, and ensuring system requirements align with these artifactsThrough interactions with product managers, r&d resources, internal and external stakeholders, and subject matter experts, the system requirements engineer will define, manage and maintain design requirements and ensure that the requirements are met throughout the product development and change control processesDepending on the level of complexity of the project, they may also lead or participate in design activities, as well as support definition of verification and validation planning, and provide oversight to the execution of evaluations that show compliance to allocated requirements.
Areas of responsibility:
Define product requirements and interfaces using a systems requirements and architecture approach, actively lead cross-functional technical teams while working with product managers, customers, and end-users to understand their needs, use-cases, operating environment, and processesTranslate these needs, processes and constraints into system design requirements and interface / system settings definitionsDocument and communicate with colleagues throughout the business using systems engineering tools.
Requirements maintenance and management
O work with internal and external stake-holders and project team members to provide continuous requirements clarification and updates throughout the project and product lifecycleCoordinate systems level requirements review activities with project teams.
O work with design engineers to translate system requirements and system risk analyses into component or subsystem-level design requirements and constraintsScope trade studies and provide guidance to designs for risk mitigation approaches.
O participate in and/or lead the development of sub-system architectures and high-level interface definitions that will be translated into detailed designs for interactions between subsystems including process/instruction definition, electrical designs, mechanical designs, and software design including timing, settings, and command definition.
O support the definition, development and maintenance of system-level verification and validation plans and results.
O actively participate in the development new systems as well as support requirements changes for maintenance of existing products.
O manage relationships with sub-contractors to ensure clarity and compliance to allocated requirements.
Project and product deliverablesResponsible for project design/development deliverables for which the role will have primary responsibility in documenting and maintaining:
O records of end user / internal stakeholder interviews and correspondence.
O definition of systems use cases, system activity/process flows, and system / sub-system interface definitions
O definition of system and sub-system requirements specifications.
O documenting and leading requirements reviews.
O design requirements allocation to production and installation quality inspections.
Product and project execution support
Responsible for participating in, providing input to, and occasionally leading:
O product or project risk assessments and mitigation through requirements definition.
O prototype testing / trade study definition and technical risk status updates.
O technical review presentations and product design documentation reviews
O support translation of verified product requirements to sales / marketing specification sheet contents.
O support post-release monitoring & maintenance of updates to sales / marketing and manage changes to product requirements and spec sheets.

3-5 years knowledge and background in system/product requirements engineering and management with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, biochemistry, biology, software programming and development, or related field, or equivalent education and experience.
Experience and/or training:
Developing and managing system requirements for hardware / software systems.
Experience working in regulated environments including medical device or iso-13485 compliant systems.
Experience using requirements management tools such as jama, doors, polarion, or others.
Managing product requirements for complex systems that include allocations of requirements to mechanical, electrical software, and outside contractor subsystems.
Master of science degree in systems engineering, software engineering / software programming, biochemistry or additional applicable working experience.
Mba with experience working with product requirements in technology sector including software, biotechnologies, equipment, aerospace, or other complex hardware / software systems.
Preferred experience and/or training:
Experience in working with medical device software systems.
Experience using configuration management tools (git) and issue tracking and release planning tools(jira, trello)
Experience developing and training requirements engineering team members.
Understanding of automated software test practices for web based and windows desktop software (unittest, selenium, appium, nunit)
Experience with xml, csv, and api interface definitions
Experience with plc’s especially modbus communication and working with the beckhoff twincat interface dll.
Experience managing and executing test cases.
Knowledge of statistical techniques and / or knowledge of mathematic/analysis operations.
Certification by incose (international council on systems engineering)
Asep, csep, esep, ireb certifications
Other test related certifications/experiences
