Jackson hewitt (jh) has an immediate opening for an energetic, entrepreneurial, and creative head writer who serves as the director of content & copy to join the marketing team in our new jersey headquartersIn this role you will be responsible for communicating jackson hewitt's brand story and helping more people get reliable, professional, and affordable tax helpYou will lead the creation of compelling, impactful, and cohesive copy and content delivered across all marketing channels, and collaborate with internal and external creative partners to make our message irresistible. You and your team will work on our website, paid digital, social media, our blog, seo & sem, tv, radio, email, direct mail, out-of-home, video, retail storefront and point-of-sale, producing integrated content that drives real business growth. About you: you are a conceptual thinker with strategic vision, and know how to execute that vision across multiple marketing channels and mediumsYou know that words are just part of the picture and are eager to work with designers to bring unique ideas to lifeYou have a history of success and a portfolio to prove itYou understand that great messages don't amount to much without great execution, so you have a strong grasp of content operations and the ability to manage and edit contributors, keep multiple creative work streams on track, and keep day-to-day content and copy production on track and on brand. What you'll do here:
Lead the development of cohesive, compelling marketing campaigns and content to bring the jackson hewitt brand vision and product value propositions to life, and motivate clients and prospects to respond. Engage prospects and clients throughout the sales funnel, and drive local market amplification in 6,000 franchises, including 3,000 locations inside walmarts nationwide. Oversee the creation of daily and weekly educational articles, editorial blogs (including breaking news), organic social posts, emails, videos, and more throughout the year. Serve as a creative director and copy chief for a team of writers crafting promotional messaging for multi-channel, integrated paid marketing campaigns. Ensure all copy and content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality, and tone and optimized for seo and user experience across all channels. Collaborate with designers and other team members to brainstorm and execute new ideas (almost) every day, considering new and interesting ways to attract and engage customers with an emphasis on emerging trends and best practices. Skills and qualifications you’ll bring for success:
10+ years of copy and content experience at a brand, publisher, or agency. Experience developing content and/or integrated marketing for financial products, professional services, or highly regulated industries (i.ePharma, healthcare, etc.) preferred Experience working on a challenger brand (taking on category leaders using a smaller budget) Empathetic cross-functional leader and people manager with 5+ years leadership experience Experience with creating, launching, and/or revamping content for new and established audiences Experience working with a franchisee-based organization Experience incorporating seo requirements in content and copy Experience tailoring content strategies for different channels, aligning with key business metrics Background in short-form and long-form writing, including experience with advertising copywriting under tight deadlines Exceptional copy-editing, line-editing, and top-editing skills Experience handling budgets and formulating resourcing plans Ability to be data-guided and insights-driven, using social listening tools and business reporting to inform and inspire content and copy Ability to work in a virtual work hub to create, orchestrate, manage, and deliver against project deliverables Talented presenter and story-teller is a bonus Can thrive and create your own structure in a fluid work environment Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills Natural collaborator comfortable organizing and navigating across groups Comfortable with both big-picture strategy and in-the-weeds execution Bachelor degree in marketing, communications, or a related field preferred
