Jb&b is seeking a senior process engineer to join our new process life sciences division based in philadelphia, paThe ideal candidate is a technically skilled and experienced engineer with developed communication, coordination, project management and leadership skillsThe senior process engineer typically manages one to two smaller projects and is the key designer for biotechnology processes and the clean utilities required to operate a life sciences facilityThe senior process engineer will have a strong background in gmp and how to achieve this through quality by design (qbd).
The ideal candidate for this role would be located in the greater philadelphia area, but remote candidates will also be considered.
Leads the design on projects and is a key designer on processes in life sciences and clean utilities
Produces pfds, p&ids, and tagged component lists; participates in specification writing and datasheet generation
Assess clean utility capacity and sizing of new or existing infrastructure and determine the appropriate line sizing required by the targeted user including wfi, usp pw, clean steam, clean compressed air, specialty gasses
Performs process modeling, utility modeling, and pipe flow modeling as required
Reviews and updates design for cleanability and aseptic requirements through the use of cip/cop, sip/sop, or single-use technology
Establishes design criteria from the project proposal and assembles basis of design documents
Manages the coordination of process equipment vendors including technical bid evaluations and reviewing of their submittals such as p&ids, equipment cutsheets, or functional specifications
Reviews shop drawings, rfi’s, contractor change orders, performs site visits and punch-lists with limited supervision to verify that designs are being implemented accurately.
Assists associate or partner to coordinate, communicate, problem solve across disciplines, and balance the client relationship with the project’s financial goals
Bachelor’s degree in chemical, biochemical, or mechanical engineering
Minimum of 4+ years of experience or proven demonstration of all the competencies and experience of a process engineer
Proficient in all design calculations and software tools (e.g., autocad plant 3d for smart p&ids or pipe-flo).
Strong understanding of trade-specific scope of project (i.e., proposal/add-service), trade-related codes (including energy, building, etc.) and the required coordination with other trades.
Strong understanding of documentation requirements and content for each deliverable phase (e.g., sd, dd, cd and specifications).
