Heartland water technology, incIs a dynamic and growing technology company that develops and markets proprietary wastewater treatment technology and servicesOur technology is used in a number of areas including solid waste, natural gas production, electric power generation and other industrial applicationsOur systems use renewable and waste energy sources to power the water treatment processes.
This position is responsible for design of new products from concept to implementation of the first commercial unitLocation is near nashville tn, although remote would be considered.
The product development engineer - process is responsible for:
New product design of wastewater treatment systems
Working with sale, marketing, customer service, engineering and other departments to develop product performance requirements.
Setting and maintaining project schedules and project budgets (including labor and materials, to meet forecasted margins) and updating as needed.
Coordinating internal and external resources for project execution including providing regular, periodic project status updates, working to contract milestones, identifying long lead time items, and escalating project challenges
Perform mass and energy analysis.
Predict changes in water chemistry based on wastewater composition, process changes such as chemical addition.
Developing pfds, p&ids, instrument lists, controls narrative
Evaluating new technologies.
Developing specifications and coordinating manufacturing of systems by 3rd party fabricators.
Managing multiple product development projects

Specific required experience and capabilities include:
Chemical engineering degree or other engineering degree with significant experienced in process design
Minimum 5-10 years job related experience preferably in wastewater, chemical, power, or other process industry
Broad practical experience designing and working with industrial systems; possess solid equipment and system operational knowledge to enable effective collaboration in the design of detailed water treatment systems.
Lead product development projects.
Developed specifications for process equipment such as instrumentation, pumps, blowers, vfds, and piping systems
Understanding of process water and wastewater systems preferred
Significant experience developing spreadsheet process models
Experience with oli or aspen
Experience with autocad preferred
Strong background in inorganic chemistry
Project management skills including development of project requirements, budgeting, scheduling, and closing projects; experience directing the work of consultants and vendors
Ability to work independently and cross functionally including working in concert with others of equal or different skill sets
Must demonstrate good judgment, an ownership mentality and approach and safe work habits
Willingness to travel to project, customer and vendor sites; likely will require overnight and periodically extended stays
Must be able to climb ladders and steps, lift up to 50 pounds, walk on outdoor surfaces
Must have a valid driver’s license and be eligible to work in the united states
