Headstrong project incIs a non-profit organization that works to create a more effective and equitable mental health choice for the nation’s veterans, military service members, and their connected families by generating access to quality trauma-informed care and innovating mental health delivery systems nationally.
Currently operating out of 12 states plus the district of columbia, headstrong is a team of community-based clinical providers in private practice and others who seek to improve the quality of mental health careBy establishing and managing networks of providers without building brick and mortar facilities, headstrong maximizes fundraised dollars towards the delivery of care provided by our experienced trauma clinicians.
Position description
Headstrong is seeking a curious, communicative evaluation expert with excellent data analysis and visualization skills to lead the evaluation of headstrong’s programmingThe evaluation manager, in close collaboration with organizational and clinical leadership and staff, will shape how headstrong measures and communicates the impact it has on mental health outcomes and mental health-seeking behaviorThe role is critical to maintaining the integrity of evaluation for our program while ensuring that our methods and data collection are the right sizes for our capacity.
This role will be responsible for designing creative evidence-based evaluation at the intersections of mental health access, individual mental health outcomes, continuity of care, and stigmaThey will lead the redesign of our evaluation database to streamline and integrate the way we track and leverage data about program impact.
Headstrong is looking for a sharp, strategic thinker who connects details of evaluation work with larger organizational priorities and can clearly communicate relevant insights to external and internal stakeholdersThe ideal candidate is committed to the integrity of their work and applies value and evidence-based lenses to evaluation methodsThis position will report directly to the chief impact officer.
Key responsibilities
Monitoring & evaluation
Clinical outcome analysis
Develop and execute on clinical outcome model that is able to provide statistically supported aggregate measurements using data from the following but not limited to scales:
Phq9, ptgi, nih life satisfaction, pcl5, gad7, isi, csi, psc-17
Develop ongoing cohort analysis of various data groups related to clinical outcomes, demographic changes, session data, and program market shifts.
Conduct rigorous data breakout analysis to spot trends and facilitate insights into impact and effectiveness of headstrong’s trauma treatment program.
Prepare organizational measures on client improvements on a quarterly basis
Client experience analysis
Develop and execute client experience analysis through quatrics client surveys
Explores impact of evaluation through equity and inclusion lens.
Facilitate the ongoing assessment of key questions that have clear relevance to clients experience along credible and feasible indicators.
Support data-driven decision making and programmatic strategy
Produce analysis and reports for internal/external stakeholders
Develop and execute several organizational level reports and dashboards that include data from various database platforms including salesforce, qualtrics, calendly, etc.
Use information from multiple sources and compile it into visualizations for the senior leadership of headstrong
Marketing, finance, business operations, impact, development
Work alongside the director of analytics to prepare tableau (or similar) dashboards for public and partner consumption
Produce quarterly and annual reports that summarize trends, patterns and actionable insights from program evaluation data.
Support knowledge development
Serves as liaison to potential external research partners to develop evidence and tools that are meaningful to headstrong’s core programming as requested.
Guides the design and executes the dissemination of findings internally and externally as requested.
Implement effective interdepartmental collaboration to ensure timely exchange of information, insights and data.

Leadership:
Leads the implementation and refinement of program evaluation framework including but not limited to:
Identifying new or enhancing existing data collection tools.
Ensure effective infrastructure to facilitate data collection, management and analysis
Work alongside cio to maintain and update headstrong strategic monitoring and evaluation practices for the organization
Update indicator list
Maintain overall schedule of data reporting
Work alongside appropriate vertical staff when disseminating information
Champion the “bigger picture”, regularly connecting evaluation work to headstrong’s organizational goals, objectives and impact.
Establish and maintain ongoing exchanges of constructive and timely feedback with headstrong staff to set clear expectations and ensure modifications to the evaluation framework are integrated in a scheduled manner.
Vendor/partner management
Serve as the organization’s point of contact for evaluation firms, research organizations, and partners interested in headstrong analysis methodology
Desired qualifications:
Ba/bs required; master’s strongly preferred in public health, mathematics, or similar fields
Demonstrated ability to set priorities, organize work, meet deadlines and manage multiple products simultaneously, with strong attention to detail.
Ability to function in a remote/hybrid work culture.
Highly collaborative posture with effective interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication skills, and high self-awareness and maturity.
Minimum 3-5 years of evaluation experience in non-profit or similar service organizations with metric-based analysis including program/project monitoring and evaluation
Experience using statistical software tools and/or advanced proficiency in manipulating data sets
Position type: full-time, weekend, and evening hours may be necessary
