Hagerty, an automotive lifestyle brand for people who love cars and love driving them, has an opportunity for a network engineer, site reliability engineerThis role is responsible for designing, implementing and supporting wan, lan and all related aspects of the network infrastructure in our facilities along with our cloud hosted infrastructureThis role will report directly to the site reliability engineering manager and is responsible for hands-on engineering activities to ensure the successful operation of a mission critical network architecture spanning multiple data centers and locationsThe ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise of load balancing technologies, including traffic manipulation rules, along with strong background in firewalls and background with aws/azureHagerty sre is evolving into an automation first mindset so scripting and centralized management are critical pieces to this role.
The network engineer will be participate in on-call support of all critical infrastructure, demonstrate strong abilities to collaborate with vendors, contractors, consultants along with their peers in sre and other technology groups that operate within hagerty ditFurthermore, as a member of the network engineering team they will pursue technological compliance with corporate goals and valuesRemote work is an option for this role.
What you'll do:
Design, implement, support and maintain wan, lan, data center, aws, azure and related technologies.
Network operations excellence supporting a highly available, mission critical network environment.
Work cross functionally with architecture and our other network engineers to evolve our network to scale as our company rapidly scales.
Work with development teams to present their services through our on prem and cloud load balancing technologies.
Assist development and sre with troubleshooting and supporting restful services.
Automate deployments, patching and administration using tools like terraform
Participation in the documentation processes including network diagrams, staff contacts, vendor contacts, utilization of monitoring/resource/inventory management tools.
Optimizing the stability and reliability of the technology's performance.
Work with managers to develop standards in line with the company guidelines and monitor those standards.
Assist with the resolution of escalated issues and actively participate in problem management activities.
This might describe you:
Bs in computer information systems or equivalent work experience
7-10 years of network engineering experience
In depth knowledge and understanding of networking technologies, design principles, and the practical application of routers, switches, virtualization, storage, storage networking virtualization/zoning, and load-balancers.
Knowledge of network security solutions such as firewalls, vpns, voip, intrusion detection/prevention, and web application firewalls.
Strong technical knowledge and experience in several of the following (certification a plus):
Cisco ucs & nexus
Strong documentation skills and experience generating technical documents, diagrams, solutions specifications, guidelines, processes, and procedures.
Automation or scripting skills, automation first mindset.
Experience in standardizing and automating system builds, component installation, and system configuration.
