Basic qualifications : bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, or a related science, engineering or mathematics fieldAgile experience preferred, plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or master`s degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities for this position: general dynamics mission systems has an immediate opening for a cloud engineerThis position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systemsGeneral dynamics mission systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
Representative duties and tasks:
Collaborate with our architects, engineering and development teams to design, develop, test, cloud solutions
Performs requirements analysis, requirements definition, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, detail trade studies, systems integration and test (verification)
Develops and evaluates systems, networks and information systems to ensure designs meet applicable governmental security specifications
Develop and implement re-usable cloud infrastructure modules and templates using devsecops practices (e.g., infrastructure as code, ci/cd, agile work methods, policy-as-code, secure by design)
Design and build templates to deliver production-grade cloud infrastructure for consumers of the service
Automate resource provisioning and allocation process
May provide system accreditation/certification evaluation and test support to ensure all technical security features (e.g., identification, authentication, access control, labeling, and auditing) of the system are considered and function properly
Researches and analyzes data, such as vendor products, cots components, gfe/cfe, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
Supports the generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle
Defines processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility
Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
Identifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses
Keeps abreast of technology trends
Knowledge skills and abilities:
Proficient knowledge of cloud platform products such as aws, azure, gcp, or openstack
Preferred: aws certificates in cloud practitioner and sysops administrator
Preferred: experience using docker or other experience with containerized applications
Proficient skills with git and git workflows
Proficient skills in leveraging ci and cd tools to automate testing and deployment
Proficient knowledge of linux or windows os, including but not limited to: server failover clustering, active directory, iis
Intermediate knowledge of designing, building, implementing, analyzing, and troubleshooting distributed, highly available systems
Intermediate knowledge of at least one configuration management system such as ansible (playbooks) other such tools
Intermediate understanding of services and protocols, configuration, management, and troubleshooting of hosting environments, including web servers, databases, caching, and database services
Intermediate knowledge in the application of current and emerging network software and hardware technology and protocols vmware platform
Basic networking skills
Proficient written and verbal communications skills
Able to grasp and apply new information quickly and effectively handle complex assignments
Shows initiative on assignments, exercises independent judgment and professionally executes projects with little direction
Proficient ability in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions
