The opportunity

In the role of primary mechanical engineer, you will be part of a design team that integrates and tests new instrumentation for improving the dna sequencing process.
Job description summary
Function as the primary mechanical engineer in a team of scientists and engineers that supports instrument development for genomic sequencing process automation.
Conduct design, systems integration and capture of 3d models for microfluidic-based instruments.
Conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs.
Participate in the design and management of precision molds for disposable microfluidic cartridges.
Organize and maintain version control of model databases
Develop project plans for short and long-term goals
Conceptualize, design, analyze, build, verify, document, and validate the subsystems, systems or solutions
Perform detailed engineering analysis, including tolerances, fmea, fea and dfx.
Identify and characterize critical parameters to achieve high reliability, robustness, and lifetime performance
Assist in hiring and training of engineering team
Requirements
Must work well in teams and maintain good team communication.
Must maintain and present their work in a well organized and accessible manner.
Should be proficient in developing 3d models and maintaining version control history (fluency in solid works preferred).
Experience in systems integration and instrumentation design, assembly and test.
Preferred experience in areas of:
Process control and automation
Microfluidics
Mold design
Biomaterials
Thermal analysis, control and management
