As a senior design engineer you will develop, implement, and check technical solutions and compliance documentation to ensure they are compliant with all relevant customer, regulatory, and airworthiness requirements, within agreed program, schedule, and manufacturing constraintsThe senior design engineer will integrate with the design team in sweden and with engineering disciplines at p&w to support the gtf and gp7000 commercial programs.
Remote position with travel required as needed (up to 20%)
Develop, implement, and check technical solutions and compliance documentation to ensure they are compliant with all relevant customer, regulatory, and airworthiness requirements, within agreed program, schedule, and manufacturing constraints.
Identify technical problems and apply/integrate solutions.
Execute and implement methods plans, toolsets and approaches that are appropriate and compliant to achieve the design and programme objectives.
Support the creation of technical solutions against customer requirements as input to bids and proposals within assigned programmes/projects.
Identify and assess technical risk for own work and propose mitigations within assigned programs/projects.
Generate and check test specifications/plans and/or alternate means of compliance (analysis/similarity/test) as required to demonstrate design solution complies with certification requirements.
Develop and check/approve designs compliant to cost and design requirements
Create and check/approve design definitions of a work package, including integration, interfaces, dimensions, materials, parts, manufacturing process requirements, assemblies, and tolerances which are compliant to all design requirements and objectives.
Generate or review, and sign as appropriate the assigned project deliverables, documents, and reports according to the project signature authorizations.
Mentor and development of engineers within assigned programmes.
Support and participate in technical and customer reviews, including formal gate reviews, including the creation and preparation of technical data and presentations of a work package.
Perform all activities at a level of minimal supervision and guide other engineers within the work package as required.
Identify improvements and create and/or check the work instructions, procedures, technical manuals, and guidelines.
Support the qualification process of products within a work package, and prepare and/or check compliance documentation to internal, customer, and regulatory requirements, where applicable.
Delivery of the engineering deliverables meeting the applicable technical requirements against agreed schedule and cost objectives.
Development or initiation of new or improved best practices and working standards;
Contributing to establishing knowledge and experience (knowledge management, tool and process enhancements and lessons learned) for the function.
Providing effective communication within the (program) team and with stakeholders outside the team.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field
7+ years of relevant experience gained within an engineering discipline, ideally within an aerospace environment and in multi-disciplinary engineering project teams (design/cm, ewis, analysis, m&p, manufacturing/ industrialization).
3+ years’ experience on aerospace static engine components
Previously held (internal) or capable of providing technical approval authority (i.eRecognized as having appropriate technical seniority for design, analysis, etc…).
Must be able to perform work subject to itar regulations and/or program requirements.
Master degree in (aerospace) engineering or equivalent working and thinking level gained through experience.
Having worked in multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary teams in an international setting.
Experience with developing and coaching people.
Ability to mentor and coach engineers in the delivery of their specific task and supporting their professional growth.
Expereince with new product development and aftermarket support
Able to act under own initiative in relation to the assigned tasks within defined functional procedures / governance.
The ability to have technical discussions with customers and suppliers as require
Able to analyse and interpret customer requirements.
Relationship building at levels up to and including senior management level.
Able to work with cross-functional teams that will typically include (in addition to the design engineering team) operations, manufacturing engineering, commercialProcurement, quality and suppliers.
Has excellent judgement in considering when escalation is appropriateSkilled user in microsoft office.
Must possess a high level of engineering functional knowledge and experience preferably across multiple disciplines in order to successfully manage the technical delivery team.
Must possess a high level of problem solving skills in both technical and program management disciplines to successfully manage the technical activities on a project to help achieve the overall business objectives of the program.
Strong minded, convincing and committed, focused on delivery, must be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Ability to clearly present data, reports and presentations to facilitate the decision making process at all levels of the business.
