Your responsibilities and tasks:
This position reports to the gea pharma north american solutions sales director.
The regional sales manager (“rsm”) is responsible for maintaining and generating new business for gea’s pharmaceutical technology as established in its broad range of equipment and systems, including but not limited to biopharma liquid processing, lyophilization, spray drying, fluid bed processing, potent material containment, and tablet pressesThe rsm will accomplish this by developing professional business relationships with pharmaceutical executives, production managers, operators, and process engineers in a consultative selling roleThe rsm will identify, qualify, log and pursue leads and opportunities while gathering and communicating market intelligenceThe rsm will coordinate and manage the flow of pre-sale information between the gea north america entity, gea’s core technology centers in europe and the customerThe rsm is the customer advocate within gea, while balancing the order intake and profit requirements of gea.
The following are a partial list of expected tasks:
Effect sales of gea pharmaceutical technology and represent the company in a professional manner.
Seek out business by visiting and presenting gea’s position in the pharmaceutical industry to new customers, as well as visiting existing customers and maintaining relationships with themFollow-up with written trip reports.
Work closely with customers in a problem-solving mode where gea’s pharmaceutical technologies bring benefit to the customer.
Identify sales leads, qualify and pursue the business accordingly.
Develop trusting relationships based upon expertise, integrity and friendliness.
Acquire sales and market intelligence on issues such as competition, price, and project status.
Handle telephone and written inquiries and aggressively follow up in a timely manner throughout the sales process until final determination of customer action.
Seek advice and guidance with respect to the business at hand from experience gea process or mechanical engineers when appropriate.
Make a persuasive formal proposal presentation.
Assist with the set-up and fully participate in trade shows as assigned.
Negotiate secrecy agreements, terms of payment and conditions of sale.
Issue order confirmations and participate in turnover meetings with engineering
Routinely update and add to the sap c4c crm to reflect current developments in customer opportunities.
Provide weekly reports to the pharma solutions sales director with 2-week out travel plans and customer activity updates.
Manage expense account for travel and entertainment on a timely basis.
Contributes to team effort by completing all tasks as may be assigned by the pharma solutions national sales director.
Your profile and qualifications:
Four-year degree in chemical or mechanical engineering or equivalent technical degree required.
5 years (preferred) of business development and sales experience.
Demonstrated ability to understand and effectively communicate technical data.
Good knowledge of pharmaceutical processing equipment, fda regulations and standards such as cgmp, ispe, usp, etc.
Possess mechanical “hands-on” aptitude.
Ability to communicate effectively in english (both written and verbal).
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team setting as well as independently.
Detail oriented and demonstrated ability to provide timely feedback to both internal and external customers.
Willingness to travel (up to 70%), as business development and sale assignments and industry functions require.
Proficiency in ms office products, with knowledge of sap crm programs.
Self-motivated personality with a “can do” attitude.
