Job locations: us-ga-atlanta us-remote overview: fortna’s it department supports a global organization and a highly remote workforce, while utilizing multiple state-of-the-art toolsThe it security engineer is responsible for keeping fortna’s sensitive data confidential and protecting fortna’s infrastructure from threatsThis position will ensure that we utilize appropriate software solutions and services to protect both fortna and its clients’ intellectual property, making key recommendations and improvementsReporting to the director, it and facilities, this position will recommend, build, improve, and maintain our security solutions, working with the senior it staff and other key departments to recognize threats and weaknessesResponsibilities:
Analyze security systems and seek improvements on a continuous basis
Create and monitor alerts to limit false positives
Report possible threats or software issues
Research weaknesses and find ways to counter them
Find cost-effective solutions to cybersecurity problems
Understand software, hardware and internet needs while adjusting them according to our business environment
Develop best practices and security standards for the organization
Assist fellow employees with cybersecurity, software, hardware, or it needs
Collaborate with client-facing departments to ensure creation of secure software and communication methods for our delivered services
Implement security tools, develop user training material, and conduct security awareness training throughout the organization
Provide hands-on expertise in responding to security incidents, implementing tools and monitoring threats
Qualifications:
4-year degree in information systems, computer science or related field
2+ years of experience in the cybersecurity industry
Experience with relevant security tools, such as; vulnerability assessment, logrhythm siem, ngfw, ids/idps, dlp, vpn, cisco, meraki, tenable, varonis, carbon black
Ability to prioritize projects
An understanding of best practices and how to implement them at a business-wide level
Ability to document and communicate important items in a clear and concise manner for the benefit of a non-technical audience
Ability to listen and respond to questions and issues in a positive and timely manner
Ability to maintain complete confidentiality
Willingness to take ownership of projects and job responsibilities with minimal supervision
Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, time management and problem-solving skills
Basic coding skills such as html, css, xml, and powershell
Ability to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 10% or less
Desired qualifications:
Cissp, gsec, ceh or cism certifications are preferred
Experience incorporating gdpr aspects into data and security processes
Public trust security clearance, or a willingness to obtain one
Experience in a compliant or regulated environment (pci/dss, iso, etc.)
