The security engineer is responsible for maintenance and support of the monitoring and securing edb’s computing infrastructureThis position will maintain security monitoring tools, provide data analysis, complete security operations tasks, and be the subject-matter expert for security controls.
Under the direction of the director of information security build and maintain a security monitoring infrastructure that produces actionable alerts, reports, and artifacts that support security and compliance needs
Review existing security implementations, make recommendations for improvement and drive improvements through to completion
Support existing security solutions and partner with other teams for the implementation and integration of any new enhancements
Ensure security tools and solutions hardware/software/devices are operating effectively and updated in a timely manner
Work directly with it and development staff to establish and enforce security best practices, protection objectives, process improvements and effective security controls
Assess security vulnerabilities and lead technical teams to remediation
Support incident management processes and security monitoring alerts in preventing compromise of information assets
Conduct security research and understand the latest threat techniques and support appropriate countermeasures, configurations, and awareness
Participate in security audit and compliance activity
Minimum 4 years in an enterprise it environment with a broad understanding of securing network, server, and cloud/saas systems
Strong working knowledge of security monitoring systems, log analysis, anti-malware, endpoint management, e-mail based security, siem, and ids/ips systems
Working knowledge and competency with network based security solutions – firewalls, ids/ips, network analysis tools, etc.
Skilled in one or more scripting languages for automation and administration (python, powershell, etc)
Direct hands-on experience with administering unix/linux and windows systems
Experience with internal it audit procedures for demonstrating compliance with security frameworks
Experience with vulnerability scanning/assessments, patch management tools, and understanding of balance between risks to the business vs security posture
Bachelor’s degree in information systems or equivalent experience
Experience with pci dss, hipaa, glba, cis critical security controls, nerc cip, sox, gdpr, and iso 27000 series security frameworks preferred
One or more security certifications, such as cissp, cisa, cism, sans giac series, etc.
