Due to continued growth, our environmental services group is seeking wetland field scientists to join our team in the south-central regionWe are hiring for multiple positions reporting to enercon’s oklahoma, texas, and louisiana office locations.
Responsibilities (including but are not limited to)
Conducting field surveys and collecting data.
Performing wetlands/waters of the us delineations.
Surveying for threatened and endangered species and conducting habitat assessments.
Preparing reports for projects that have been evaluated in the field or descriptions based on available maps and aerial photographs.
Meeting regularly with clients and regulatory agencies.
Maintaining existing relationships with clients and regulatory agencies as well as fostering new relationships.
Required qualifications / skills
Bachelor`s degree in ecology, botany, biology, zoology, or closely related field and a minimum of 6 years of verifiable direct work experience or appropriate industry-recognized licenses or certifications indicating achievement in the field of ecology, botany, biology, zoology and 8 years of applicable experience.
Strong plant identification skills
Expertise with local flora and ability to use diagnostic keys.
Technical proficiency in wetland delineation.
Familiar with us army corps of engineers wetland delineation manual and regional supplements for one or more us regions - preferably great plains, midwest, eastern mountains and piedmont, and atlantic and gulf coastal plains regions.
Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and permitting such as the clean water act (cwa), section 401/404, endangered species act (esa), and national environmental policy act (nepa)
In-depth knowledge of local ecosystems.
Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Ability to work within a team or independently.
Good technical writing skills and attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient with microsoft office suite, including word, excel, and powerpoint.
Ability to traverse difficult terrain and work in adverse weather conditionsThis position may require walking several miles in one day.
Ability to travel and be out in the field approximately 80% of the time; duration of travel may vary depending on project and client needs, ranging from a few days to a few weeksTravel is generally within oklahoma, texas, arkansas, and louisiana but may extend beyond this rangeOvernight travel on short notice is possible.
Preferred qualifications / skills
Professional wetland scientist (pws) certification
Esa section 10 permit is a plus
Experience with wildlife studies and surveys
Existing relationships with relevant agencies (usace, usfws, deq)
Experience with arcgis
Employment requirement
Ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings, enercon and client-specific background checks, and annual motor vehicle record (mvr) according to company and client policies.
Must be legally eligible to work in the us without current or future sponsorship.
