Due to continued growth, nuclear service group is seeking a mechanical engineer supervisor for our palm beach gardens, fl or kennesaw, ga location.
Responsibilities (including but are not limited to)
Products/deliverables – serve as the focal point for initial unit contact to management, pm’s, and other internal constituents and together with the pm’s and lead engineers, define the scope of workDirect/assign work to the unit to balance activities between work groupsMaintains responsibility for the unit’s quality; establish and enforce quality standards for the unit through the lead engineersWorking with project managers, accepts unit’s responsibility of budget and schedule for assigned projectsAssigns unit’s responsible engineer (re) and provides recommendation to the client engineering manager of the discipline of the lead responsible engineer (lre)Responsible for the approval of engineering documents produced by the unitCertifying design documents as required by state and local client and code requirementsSupports the engineering manager in maintaining, updating, and executing continuous improvement plans.
Business development – leads proposal preparation with input for scope and budget to pmsDevelop professional relationships with client counterpartsAssist in marketing the unit’s expertise/abilities to clients.
Leadership and staff development – identify and promote opportunities for site workIdentify and promote training opportunities (ex: owner’s groups, manufacturer, professional society)Utilize the review/approval process of deliverables as technical training opportunity for staffProvide timely and appropriate performance feedback and coachingPromote professional development (ex: professional license, certifications, and client qualifications)Support company policies and proceduresDemonstrate technical leadership, providing resolution to technical issues either through own knowledge or by coordination with subject matter expert.
Organizational support – responsible for the assignment of engineering resources to projects through the lead engineersMaintain short and long range staffing projections based on work projectionsApprove timesheets and expense reports of lead engineers and other direct reportsConduct unit’s annual performance appraisalsSupport management in recruiting new employees.
Contribution to business goals – meets applied time goals set for position/division/discipline.
Required qualifications / skills
Bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
A minimum of 6 years of experience in the design of mechanical systems and 2 years’ experience as a group lead.
Advanced knowledge of mechanical codes and standards.
Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills.
Ability to be an individual contributor and work effectively in teams.
Must be able to traverse stairs and ladders at client sites.
Must be able to traverse client sites to conduct walkdowns.
Must be able to work outside at client sites in all weather conditions.
Ability to travel between 15-25% of the time; duration of travel may vary depending on project and client needs, ranging from a few days to a few weeks.
Ability to motivate team and achieve goals through positive, winning attitude and effective leadership style which is consistent with enercon’s defining excellence fundamentals
Proven experience with a high level of decision making, directing and overseeing routine and advanced technical work performed by others
Ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings, enercon and client specific background checks, and annual motor vehicle record (mvr) according to company and client policies.
Preferred qualifications / skills
Experience and/or field experience working under an nqa-1 or iso9001 program.
Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to nuclear sites.
Licensed professional engineer
