Keep up to date with current trends, tactics, and vulnerabilities to understand the threat landscape as it applies to edward jones.
Use frameworks such as mitre att&ck and d3fend, as well as the cyber kill chain, to map current detection coverage and identify opportunities for developing new threat detection use cases.
Research ttps and develop high fidelity detections in various tools/languages including but not limited to: security incident & event management (siem), endpoint detection & response (edr), and network security monitoring platforms.
Provide feedback and input on the deployment and configuration of general security platforms to ensure the team has the telemetry and visibility to perform detection & response functions
Document internal team procedures and job aids for completing core functions across the team.
Work with members of the incident response team to develop processes for ongoing tuning of signatures and rules as well as documentation for response and investigation.
Must be able to solve technical challenges in critical situations that require immediate resolution.
Ensure compliance to published information security policies and standards.
Provide security services that align with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
Develop relationships with external security organizations to maintain awareness of security issues and trends.
Bachelor`s degree in computer science, engineering, or information systems or related field preferred; or equivalent related work experience
Minimum of 10 years information systems security experience, with at least 5 years in an incident response or threat detection role
Experience with the creation and tuning of complex alerting rules within a siem
Advanced knowledge and understanding of security issues, risks, concepts and terminology
Proficiency in understanding security aspects of computer platforms and technologies (e.g., linux, unix, mvs, windows, web, ldap, dbms, network, firewalls, ids/ips, authentication)
Experience with log analysis from multiple sources (e.gFirewall, ids, proxy, authentication, endpoints, etc) to identify and investigate anomalies and potential security events
Experience with packet-level analysis (e.g., wireshark, tcpdump, tshark) and knowledge of tcp/ip protocols (osi layers 3-7) for investigating network traffic
Experience using scripting languages (python, powershell, bash, etc.) to parse machine-generated data, interact with rest apis and automate repetitive tasks
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to describe security event details and technical analysis
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are needed to prioritize tasks and serve as a leader for enterprise security initiatives
