This position is accountable for being the subject matter expert in metallurgy and plastics for the business unitThis position is responsible for research and development of new technologies in both ferrous/non-ferrous metals and plasticsAdditionally, this position will lead material failure analysis on current product and provide technical expertise in the application of these materials on new product development.

Qualifications
Required (basic) qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution
Minimum of 5 years engineering experience
Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the united states without company sponsorship.
No relocation is providedOnly candidates that reside within 50 miles of highland, il or syracuse, ny will be consideredActive-duty military is exempt from the geographical mile limitation.
Preferred qualifications:
Cad/solidworks modeling experience and the ability to develop 2d drawings
Understanding of phase gate project development
Knowledge using sap
Experience with finite element analysis (fea)
Position criteria:
Must have experience with product development and manufacturing process
Must have experience in testing material properties including mechanical and chemical analysis
Must have the ability to analyze material failure and provide root cause analysis determining failure modes
Must have experience identifying new material technologies and applying them to both current and new products
Travel up to 10%
Technical focus in metallurgy and plastics
