As a layout design engineer in the design group, you will create modern layouts to support our internal and external customersYou will be responsible for planning and executing the layout design activity using industry standard eda toolsAdditionally, you will have many opportunities to demonstrate your skills in cad layout and management of npi (new product introduction) projects, which includes product engineering of new and existing medical diagnostic imaging devices and process integration of flat panel process.
R&d and npi activities:
Use your creativity and expertise to design and layout new state of the art products meeting customer requirements for medical imaging applications as well as other industrial applications.
Work with international teams to coordinate solution-level design challenges to maximize product value.
Work with process integration teams to see your design and layouts translate into real world applications in the medical imaging field.
Self-starter and hands on, capable to think and act independently and to translate objectives into tangible results.
Modeling or characterization of semiconductor devices.
Test and measurement of semiconductor devices.
Options also available for long term cross training in our fa, test, and r&d groups.
Experience with the following is preferred:
Development of semiconductor devices (e.g., power, cmos, or rf, optical, analog front end -ic, asic, fpga, tft etc.)
Layout software for semiconductor design (cadence, mentor graphics, silvaco, synopsys, etc.) and pcb design (altium, cadence, orcad)
Electrical test & characterization hardware (probe stations, oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, etc.)
Javascript, matlab, jump
Fpga vhdl, verilog, firmware development
Skills (hardware, software, machine operations, etc.):
Cadence, silvaco, tanner eda, or other relevant layout design tools – med
Solid state device physics - med
Interpersonal skills and proficiency in oral and written communication – high
Python, firmware development/scripting- high
Teamwork- high
Major responsibilities:
Cad layout using eda tools (new product introduction) 50%
Automated and manual design verification (drc, erc, lvl, lvs, etc.) 25%
Product engineering (product specification and design documentation) 10%
Programming & scripting & data analysis 15%
Additional responsibilities:
Firmware development and or pcb development, as needed
Other duties as assigned
Minimum qualifications required
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical & computer engineering, or related discipline and 1 year of work experience.
1+ year(s) cad layout design experience, or
1+ year(s) circuit design, or
1+ year(s) device modeling, or
1+ year(s) product engineering, or
1+ year(s) device physics, or
1+ year(s) process integration engineering
1+ year(s) firmware development/ programming (javascript, python, open)
Preferred qualifications
Master’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical & computer engineering, or related discipline and 5+ years of work experience
5+ years cad layout design experience, or
5+ years circuit design, or
5+ years device modeling, or
5+ years product engineering, or
5+ years device physics, or
5+ years process integration engineering
5+ years firmware development/ programming (javascript, python, open)
Work environment
Office / remote work: 85% of job
Clean room/fab: 10% of job
Travel: up to 5% of job
Work schedule:
Monday - friday; 40+ hours weekly
Additional hours as needed
Compensation & benefits:
Salary: $42, 261- $132, 038 doe
Annual bonus: 15% prorated 1st year of employment
Relocation assistance available depending on location
Sign-on bonus: $5k net (agreement; terms and conditions apply)
