About the opportunity:
Dmi is currently seeking to hire a project manager to support a federal government customers in the dc metro areaThis specialist will provide support to brand new program that is going through a digital transformation and modernization.
Duties and responsibilities:
As a project manager, you’ll have ownership over the successful development, implementation and delivery of client projects and the management of all resources and deliverables of the project teamsYour mission: to effectively lead and manage small to medium sized projects to on-time and on- or under-budget completion.
You’ll utilize established dmi processes and documents, ensuring quality standards along the wayYou’ll create, update, and maintain all documentation including charters, work plans, timelines, issue/risk logs and budgetsWhen changes arise (and they always do!), you will utilize the controls established within the framework, and will manage project scope change management proceduresYou will serve as the client’s advisor on flexibility and how to adjust as the project progresses, while understanding and relaying the budgetary and schedule impacts to the client to aid in informed decision-makingLast but not least, you’ll obtain all signatures related to client sign-off on project documents and deliverables.
Communication is your middle name, which means you’ll engage your project team regularly – keeping a positive team environment top of mindYou’ll also communicate with the client, project stakeholders, and project sponsors to keep the client and dmi team up to dateBeing a servant leader to your project team members, you’ll look to remove roadblocks, boost morale, and ensure each member of your team has what he or she needs to perform at his or her bestTo keep at the top of your field, you’ll remain current on delivery methodologies, industry, and technology trends via continuous learning opportunities and professional development involvementQualifications: required skills/certifications:
8+ years of combined software project management or management of o&m projects
15+ years of overall it experience
Exposure to agile methodologies (scrum and kanban both) and familiarity with agile principles and values
Understanding of and proven use of project management tools such as jira, trello, microsoft project, azure devops
Experience with ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and sprint retrospectives for development as well as o&m proejcts
Consulting skills such as interviewing stakeholders, facilitating meetings and negotiating skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate at a level of detail appropriate for the audience
Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills, strong work ethic, self-motivated, and excellent presentation skills
Enthusiastic and driven to succeed
Ability to work independently, but also successfully work on a team
Comfortable working within an ambiguous environment, patiently working to define processes and planning schedule and/or backlog gradually over time
Professional persistence – ability to track action items to closure with appropriate levels of follow-up
Risk management experience – establishing probability and impact of risks, creating and executing upon mitigation and contingency plans
Detail oriented and sound independent judgment
Bachelor’s degree in technical or business field
Project management institute (pmp) certification
Experience working in a consulting firm
