Nature of work:
The dartnet institute is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3, research institute with a mission of supporting research and quality improvement activities that utilize existing electronic health data, capturing or using patient reported outcome data with a particular emphasis on pragmatic clinical trials and secondary data analysesDartnet also supports the collaboration of multiple academic centers, independent research groups and industry partners.
This position supports the information systems of the dartnet institute which include data extraction, transformation and loading software from electronic health records, data merging and standardization processes, quality reporting systems, and patient reported outcomes data collection systemsThe
Development operations specialist creates, maintains, and troubleshoots dartnet managed and supported software systems as outlined above, which may be added to from time to time.
General description of work:
The development operations specialist is responsible for effective oversight, planning, provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructureThis individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructureThis individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational policies, enabling staff, and clients to effectively utilize dartnet supported software and systems.
This individual is accountable for the following systems: linux, windows, aws and redcap systems that support dartnet developed, licensed or third party supported applications and processes.
This position will have periodic supervision of student workersIn addition, this professional is expected to be a leader regarding network and desktop issues within dartnet.
1Oversee, plan, track, and engineer solutions for various project and operational needs
2Plan and coordinate with the team for the testing and deployment of applications and technologies
3Organize and establish work processes to ensure the delivery of services and products
4Research and recommend innovative automated approaches for data pipelines
5Brainstorm for new ideas and ways to improve data delivery

7Perform ongoing performance tuning, upgrades, and resource optimization as required
8Create documentation of processes and configurations for future reference, training, and support purposes
9Provide clients and internal teams with support on technical integration issues
10Serve as point-of-contact for dartnet institute databases
11Investigate user problems, identifies their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement fixes.
12Troubleshoot technical issues related to data transformation and flow
13Consult with technical team as needed to determine advanced solutions
1Knowledge of database administration for mssql server, postgres.
2Knowledge of computer and/or database security systems, applications, procedure, and techniques.
3Knowledge of working with windows server, including active directory and proper disk configurations.
4Skill in writing sql queries and implementing operational automation using scripts.
5Ability to identify and resolve database issues and operational problems.
6Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
7Ability to learn and support new systems and applications.
1Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical major or at least 2 years of experience for each year of education conducting similar activities.
22 years’ experience in database management or further education in this area.
13+ years of database support experience.
2Experience and knowledge of configuration management.
Responsibility/oversight – financial & supervisory:
1Functions as a lead worker planning, assigning, or doing the work including responsibility for training, instruction, setting the work pace and possibly evaluating performance.
2No budget responsibility.
Working conditions/physical effort:
1Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice.
2No regular travel required.
