This individual will assist compass group usa associates across the united states with the administration of their short term disability (std), family medical leave (fmla), and american disability act (ada)Specifially will be reviewing and advising on medical documentation to assist in decision making of process.
***remote work location***
Maintain in-depth knowledge of federal fmla, adaaa regulations, and additional leave laws within states, municipalities, or sector specific policies that provide greater leave protection beyond federal laws.
Use experience and judgement in reviewing medical documentation to make leave approval/denial decisions in accordance with various leave laws.
Educate and coach managers on their responsibility within the leave process and various leave laws to ensure compliance and avoid litigation.
Research and resolve discrepancies between associates medical documentation and leave request.
Educate and coach employees and managers on complicated aspects of the return to work process, leave accommodation requests, or on complex case processes.
Manage the appeal process for all denied claims, review all documentation and makes final decision on leave approval status.
Manage salaried short term disability program to ensure associate compliance and apply proper coordination with various state disability plans, coordinates payments with corporate payroll.
Monitor and tracks leave of absences and follow up on required paperwork such as medical certification, request for extended leave, and other required information.
Manages the associates appeal process for all denied leave claims.
Keeps unit managers, human resources, and benefit team abreast of associates leave approval status.
Aides in training and provides support, and guidance to other leave of absence and senior coordinators
Handles escalated calls
Escalate complex issues including inability to accommodate, transitional work programs for guidance.
Ability to manage high volume, multiple tasks, multiple priorities, with frequent interruptions.
Maintain leave of absence documentation, files, and data.
Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of experience administering leave of absence.
Working knowledge of state and federal regulatory requirements related to leave of absence, including family medical leave act (fmla) and any state regulations.
Bilingual, fluent in english/spanish preferred
Experience in providing consultation and training on disability issues
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Ability to multitask is essential
Strong time management and ownership of deliverables.
Must have customer service experience.
Detail orientation with ability to analyze, problem solve, organize and manage multiple priorities and excellent follow up skills in a fast-paced environment strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Must have microsoft office experience.
Must be friendly, outgoing and creative.
Must have fmla experience.
Experience with std, cobra, ada a plus.
Experience with source 500 a plus.
