This position is responsible for effectively deploying communications strategies to increase visibility and grassroots supply activity for the certified angus beef ® brandBuilding awareness and communicating brand value across the supply chain, translating key issues and wins through broadcast, print, digital ag trade and owned mediaDevelop and leverage relationships within the industry to share success stories of certified angus beef production initiatives with key stakeholders within the supply chain, merchandising chain and consumersLead producer-facing messaging for initiatives important to satisfying and growing consumer demand and effortsThis role requires experience in beef cattle production, communications strategy and execution, and will serve as part of the communication leadership team with responsibility for setting the strategic communications vision for all the brand’s stakeholders.
Oversee communication strategy and lead producer-facing brand messaging for seedstock breeders, commercial cattlemen, feeders and allied industry.
Write, edit, and regularly disseminate news releases, research reviews and feature articles for online, broadcast, and print media.
Work with communications team to regularly create content supporting animal welfare and sustainability topics; market information and demand drivers; and research that supports the continued movement toward supplying the brand.
Work with the production team to set and help execute event communication, e-marketing direction and educational resources for producer-facing events and initiatives.
Work with applicable media to develop rapport and relationships that encourage placement of articles that suit the brand’s agenda across the full spectrum of story and information types.
Work with american angus association team to coordinate communication efforts and resources, provide materials as needed and serve as spokesperson when appropriate.
Work with the marketing leadership team to develop and provide marketing materials featuring ranchers and feeders to fulfill brand partner needs.
Help establish and implement a grassroots brand champion program with production team that can be positioned and engaged to share more of the brand and beef production story.
Has a passion connecting people across the beef supply chain, sharing beef demand drivers to producers and similarly, sharing production practices with consumers.
Travel: must be willing and able to travel (car or airplane), up to approximately 25%May require overnight travel and/or weekend work.
Location: this position is located in wooster, ohioRemote work considered, preference placed on working in the ohio office.
This position may be responsible for supervising members of the communications team.
Education/experience: any combination of education and experience that would provide the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifyingTypical qualifications would be equivalent to:
Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, in public relations, agricultural communication or a related field; and
Ten years of progressively responsible experience in a related field with two years in a supervisory capacity desirable.
Experience with software and internet products.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Superior writing skills with the ability to craft provoking and compelling narratives
Ability to collect, analyze and interpret data and technical matters from a variety of sources, communicating results appropriately with targeted audiences
Experience in producer communications, establishing and maintaining rapport with ranchers
Experience in writing, editing, journalism, photography, video and digital media
Strategic thinker, inspiring leader and team player
Must be highly motivated, possess a positive attitude and have excellent organizational, interpersonal and relationship management skills
Self-starter with the ability to work efficiently and manage multiple priorities
Attention to detail and good follow up with media, customers and extended team
Solid planning and implementation skills, as well as public speaking abilities
Knowledge of beef production and experience in ag production
Managerial experience preferred
Digital marketing experience preferred
