**please read this job posting in its entirety before applying.** We have several field technician, traffic control engineer and layout engineer designer/drafter positions open for immediate hireYou will work out of our office located in vista, california (north san diego county).
Traffic control engineer/layout engineer - drafter
Designing and drafting temporary traffic control plans in autocad for the construction of telecommunications facilities in the public right-of-way using standards as defined by the california manual on uniform traffic control devices (mutcd) and the work area traffic control handbook (watch) including the implementation of basic traffic engineering principles.
Designing and drafting highly detailed layout plans in autocad for the construction of telecommunications facilities exclusively within the city of san diegoKnowledge of city of san diego’s standard drawings for public works construction and a thorough understanding of utility and parcel maps are mandatory.
Engineering background, a plus.
Proficient in identifying existing underground utilities, monuments & property markersPossess the ability to comprehend utility, parcel and surveying maps and have the level of expertise to recommend alternative layout options as per current field conditionsFielding notes must be highly accurate and clearly depicting above-ground facilitiesPrior to each fielding assignment, you will also be expected to extract the relevant sub-structure surveyor maps from the city of san diego, head office.
Job requirements – ** on the job training provided **
- knowledge in the use of autocad 2006 or higher (not applicable for field technicians) - ability to use google earth maps to locate work areas, manhole and aerial locations and/or the ability to read utility, parcel and surveying maps. -2 to 5 years of experience (preferred) - knowledge of the california manual on uniform traffic control devices (mutcd) and work area traffic control handbook (watch); latest editions for both manuals - basic knowledge of traffic engineering principles as it pertains to temporary traffic control. - designing various lane and road closures on city streets and freeways - ability to work with the governing caltrans office to locate right-of-way (row) lines; if needed.
Compensation: - compensation is based on experience and will be hourlyAt time of interview, a cad test will be performed in order to determine level of experience and compensation. - due to the overwhelming response, only those who send a resume, provide a desired hourly wage rate and have experience will be reviewed and considered.
