The student engagement advisor is responsible for supporting students through the re-enrollment process, providing coaching, support, and direct student advising to approximately 400 – 600 student s actively enrolled in courses per trimesterA student engagement advisor is an integral part of ensuring csu global students complete their degrees, certificates, and courses in a timely manner, receive support in meeting their personal and professional goals, and feel cared for and supported during their educational journeyThis position will work with students upon initial entry to the university through successful completion of their programsAdvisor`s will provide proactive outreach, degree planning, general customer service through basic financial aid and transfer evaluation advising, and provide success coaching and support.

Essential duties & responsibilities
Support students through the re-enrollment process by informing students of required application steps and materials, as well as providing follow-up contacts to help students overcome obstacles in the process in order to provide students with an admissions decision.
Prepare students to start courses by providing clear and accurate information on program and course expectations to support student retention and success.
Operate in compliance with all university, state, and federal policies and processes to ensure a superior student experience focused on providing accurate and effective information to support their decision making
Coach students on topics such as academic exploration and planning, academic success skills and goal setting, engaging in the campus community, basic financial aid and transfer evaluation topics, and timely degree completion.
Assist students to navigate their academic experience by helping them with timely connection to academic and non-academic resources, creative problem solving, student support services, navigating and understanding university policies and procedures.
Provide academic coaching and support for at-risk students and students in satisfactory academic progress.
Engage in proactive outreach and conversations through phone, text, email and video conferencing.
Respond in a timely manner to students’ requests, concerns or issues in accordance with csu global guidelines.
Utilize the student information system (sis) and other university systems to track student progress and student interactions.
De-escalate and resolve student issues or concerns.
Knowledge of undergraduate and graduate academic programs, institution and federal specific policies, procedures, rules and regulations, tools and support services, and other academic requirements and options.
Knowledge of basic financial aid and transfer evaluation policies and processes.
Other duties as assigned.

Collaborating with faculty and support staff to fully support students.
Participating in professional development to stay current on best practices and drive improvements.
Carries out duties in compliance with all ferpa, state and federal regulations and guidelines.
As needed, serve on university committees and/or task forces including, but not limited to, the admissions committee, retention committee, appeals committee.

Qualifications: education & experience
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university requiredPreferred master’s degree preferred.
Three (3) years of professional working experience in student facing higher education position, preferably in enrollment, admissions, or academic advising roles.
