Description:
The bronx children’s museum seeks a creative and ambitious part-time/temporary graphic designer to create engaging, fun, on-brand graphics for a variety of projects and media.
The graphic designer will play an important role in conceptualizing and designing materials for educational programs, events, fundraising campaigns, stationery and forms, website pages, social media, and general marketing campaigns.
The ideal candidate is an imaginative, independent and solution-oriented individual with experience juggling multiple projects simultaneously with a portfolio that shows a range from sophistication to funThe candidate should be highly organized and fluent in adobe creative suite (indesign, photoshop and illustratorPremier a+), while possessing solid design, typography, and photo manipulation skillsIllustration and motion graphics a plus.
The graphic designer will report to the director of marketing and communications and will work in close collaboration with other departments to create innovative solutions to engage the entire museum community including children, families, funders and donors.
Responsibilities associated with the position include, but are not limited to:
Conceptualize and design materials for educational programs, events, fundraising campaigns, website pages, social media, and general marketing campaigns.
Collaborate with museum staff to understand project scopes and timelines under the direction of the director of marketing and communications.
Conceptualize and craft assets to completion that can be applied across print and digital media using brand guidelines and standards.
Enhance and develop templates for visual presentations for multiple departments.
Design and prepare social media, website and email assets as needed.
Ensure projects are well-executed according to the design vision by preparing files, defining specifications, and managing timeline and production of assigned projects with various vendors, as needed.
Requirements:
B.f.aOr m.f.aIn graphic design or a related field.
2-4 years of professional experience in graphic design or a related field.
Must be extremely proficient in adobe creative suite - indesign, ps, ai, (premiere a plus).
Portfolio with emphasis on page layout and typography.
Dynamic use of typography, grids, layout, color, shape, and imagery.
Familiarity with print production methods and preparing files for output.
Proficient with google docs, sheets, slides; ms word, excel and powerpoint.
Experience working with type in motion, with the ability to design and produce motion graphics a plus.
Basic to intermediate knowledge of html/css/cms/wordpress or front end web development experience a plus.
Attention to accuracy and detail while being a creative thinker and having the ability to work both within and without guidelines.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, to take direction, to receive feedback, and to execute tasks accordingly.
Ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and adapt to ever-changing project types and requirements.
Extremely strong communication and organization skills.
Bilingual and from the bronx a plus!
This is a temporary/part-time position on average working 15hrs/week at an hourly wage of $25/hour.
