Summary
Come join the brightmark center of excellence! we are seeking a project engineer to help operate our many renewable natural gas (rng) projectsThis position will report to the vp of engineering under the guidance of the srPe of operations and work closely with asset managers, site operators, project managers, project engineers, and third-party operators and engineers in support of the company mission to “create a world without waste.” you will help brightmark successfully run dozens of commercial-scale rng projects across the country.
The ideal candidate will have experience operating industrial facilities (ideally related to biogas and/or rng or other renewable energy or natural gas production and transmission) along with a good knowledge of engineering design criteria as well as project management practicesThese will be brought together to help the brightmark asset management (am) team fix immediate problems, execute capital improvement projects, and collect lessons learned from the field.
The rng operations pe will serve as a liaison between the center of excellence and the am functional group, allowing operators to get technical expertise as needed and to provide critical feedback from am to the project development and execution teams in order to ensure enhanced operability of future projects.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
Participate in daily operations meetings
Report operations meeting outcomes back to the center of excellence
Assist operators with daily maintenance activities
Troubleshoot operational issues
Help create and maintain a maintenance log with regular report outs to the relevant parties
Work with operations project manager to help execute capital improvement projects for existing digesters and rng systems
Communicate with contractors and subcontractors to help facilitate capital improvement projects
Participate in hazops and design reviews for projects under development
Collect and maintain a log of lessons learned
Assist the team in maintaining an excellent safety record
Travel as needed to brightmark and/or tech provider facilities for technical evaluation and assessment
More frequent travel or an extended offsite rotation at operating facility(ies) during initial tenure may be required for training purposes, depending on prior experience
25% – 35% travel expected thereafter
Minimum requirements
Education and experience:
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university, preferably in engineering
Exposure to industrial facility operations, preferably in gas, energy, rng, farming, wastewater, or other related field
Minimum two (2) years’ work experience; one (1) year if in a closely related position
Skills and qualifications:
Strong desire to advance waste and energy solutions that have global environmental benefits
Ability to represent the company in a professional manner
Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
Excellent interpersonal and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to multi-task, adapt and be flexible to adjust to changing demands, timelines and deliverables while achieving high performance goals in a fast-paced environment
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, integrity and the highest degree of confidentiality
Fluency in ms excel, outlook, powerpoint, teams, and word
Preferred requirements
Three (3) years of professional experience
Prior experience as a project engineer, operations engineer, site manager, operator, mechanic, or project manager
Degree in mechanical, electrical, civil, environmental, or agricultural engineering
Knowledge of project management principals
Experience with pi vision, power bi, industrial scada systems, smartdraw, visio or similar process drawing software, asana, zoom, ms project or other scheduling software
