Position description
Hybrid- some office visits will be required on an ad hoc basisNeed to be able to commute to woburn occasionally.
Title: commercial solar engineer
Supervisor: director of design and engineering
This role is responsible for providing creative technical solutions to commercial level solar installations in a collaborative team environment.
Job responsibilities:
Assistance with preliminary site layouts and proposals working with boston solar sales personnel
Coordination with internal and external project stakeholders on technical requests
Creation of site layouts of photovoltaic ballast rooftop arrays, carports, and ground mount systems
Specification of pertinent equipment including inverters, cabling/terminations, interconnection equipment, protective systems, panelboards, transformers, and other miscellaneous equipment required to interconnect the engineered systems
Creation of electrical single line diagrams and loading calculations as necessary
Coordination of structural engineering field with external engineering
Required experience:
4-year degree from an accredited college or university in engineering
3-5 years of experience practicing engineering pertinent to the tasks outlined above
Experience and knowledge of photovoltaic systems and system interconnection
Proficiency with autocad
Preferred experience:
Experience with aurora and helioscope
Professional engineering license in the state of massachusetts with ncees accreditation for reciprocity in other states
Field/construction experience in commercial pv
