Overview
As a key member of a dynamic and talented team, the complex project manager is responsible for the implementation of new and renewing large, strategic, and often national/complex accountsThe im leverages internal and external relationships to build consensus and develop workable solutions to resolve issues and achieve resultsThe im collaborates with key constituents and stakeholders at the association, other par plans, representatives at higher levels, account executives and other key internal resources at the leadership and executive leadership levelsThe im participates directly with the sales staff in renewal and new business meetings and contributes to the decision-making processesThe im supports and promotes bcbsma philosophy/practices and must have the ability to work as part of a collaborative team to be successful.
Responsibilities: essential functions:
Responsible for supporting the blue cross blue shield of massachusetts sales and marketing staff with new and renewing large, strategic, and often national/complex accounts
Provide consulting services to bcbsma account executives to facilitate the expansion of business.
Establish and maintain collaborative relationship with other bcbs plans.
Develop project plans, document meetings and conference calls.
Communicate with other bcbs plans to provide appropriate and pertinent information and guidance to assure national customers of seamless administration of high-quality health care programs.
Negotiate favorable arrangements with other blue cross blue shield plans for the administration of national accounts.
Represent the department in cross-functional workgroups and committees and participate in special projects sponsored both internally and externally.
Provide consultative support as the technical and subject matter expertise on national business practices and arrangements.
Recommend and initiate process improvement solutions to shorten process cycle time that meet or exceed productivity goals, increase revenue, manage costs, or enhance existing programs.
Develop documentation and reference materials to improve the timeliness of research and analysis in the department.
Develop and deliver presentations both internally and externally.
Lead projects and provide leadership to team members.
Challenges/problem solving:
Resolve complex problems and issues independently and make recommendations to leader.
Interpret data and bcbs association national account policies to develop resolution for inter-plan issues.
Manage and complete multiple projects with competing priorities and aggressive deadlines
Influence cross-functional areas and team members to accomplish individual, department and corporate goals.
Decision making authority:
Project level decision on workable solutions and issue resolution.
Responsible to leader and to matrixed relationships for work performed cross-functionally.
Demonstrate leadership in enhancing operational efficiency, in alignments with the company’s standards and vision.
Leadership responsibilities:

Leverage and manage relationships with vendors, providers, partners, and accounts
Collaborate internally with functional business units and externally with partner
Plans to build consensus in the decision–making process.

Lead operational and cross-functional teams and initiatives
Demonstrate service orientation in all interactions
Mentor, train, and provide work direction to both peers and subordinates
Assumes manager responsibilities for the team during managers’ absence.
Qualifications (knowledge/skills/abilities/behaviors):
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Intermediate to advanced skill level in the use of microsoft project and microsoft excel.
Must possess strong communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and assignments.
Excellent communication skills to communicate information to internal and external customers.
Goal oriented and be able to produce results as well as being flexible enough to respond to changing priorities.
Good team player able to work in a collaborative group.
Ability to successfully manage relationships with internal and external customers.
Education/relevant experience:
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred
7+ years of healthcare experience
Experience in national health care programs a plus
Strong ms office skills (excel, word, powerpoint).
Excellent analytical and good problem-solving skills required.
Relationship building skills - strong interpersonal and business skills that build client and consultant confidence and loyalty
Business knowledge - strong knowledge of bcbsma products and services, and a broad understanding of the health care industry a plus
Time management skills – planning, organizing, prioritizing and follow-up skills
Demonstrated project management skills - ability to lead a cross functional team to effectively manage projects and deadlines
Presentation delivery and development skills –client presentation experience and proficiency in programs such as
Multi-tasking skills – ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects at various stages of completion while maintaining other job responsibilities
Team player, effective communicator, persuasive and professional demeanor
Communication skills – strong written and verbal communication skills are required to clearly articulate business needs and capabilities to internal and external customers.
Attention to detail – quality and accuracy of work is critical to success
