All positions at atlantic casualty, unless deemed essential, in-office, are work-from-home until further noticeThis position can be based in any of our locations or work remotely.
This exempt position reports to the anticipatory supervisor.
Works at any claims desk throughout the claims department including commercial general liability, commercial auto and garage, commercial property, and commercial litigated files, in various branch offices, to provide coverage for other staff membersProvides technical assistance to staff adjusters on their files and assist with training.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Analyze, review, and interpret policies to resolve coverage and assess liability.
Independently handle all levels of claims and manage files in litigation.
Establish and maintain proper loss and expense reserves.
Determine what investigation is necessary to bring a claim to an equitable conclusion for all parties involved.
Properly document information in the claim file.
Review insurance policies for coverage and make recommendations.
Make decisions regarding the liability of an insured.
Draft coverage and liability declination letters.
Maintain a working diary of assigned claims.
Return phone calls promptly.
Provide excellent customer service.
Assist in the training of personnel.
Perform other similar or related duties as assigned.
A four-year degree from an accredited institution.
10+ years of successful claims handling including advanced skills in coverage, investigation, negotiation, salvage, and subrogation.
10+ years’ experience with multi-line claims with heavy emphasis on commercial gl is a plus.
10+ years’ experience with multi-state responsibilities is a plus.
Knowledge of the litigation process and procedures.
Knowledge of and adherence to the state laws and regulations governing the handling of property and casualty claims.
Basic understanding of accounting principles, construction, underwriting, marketing, and auto physical damage estimating.
Knowledge of medical terms and legal issues.
Advanced communication skills are required to understand, interpret, and convey technical information.
Knowledge of coverage, investigation, negotiation, salvage, subrogation, construction, and auto physical damage.
A resident adjuster’s license in state of residence.
A non-resident adjuster’s license where required in the states where we do business.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsAbility to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in written or diagram formReasoning; dealing with problems involving a few variables in standard situations.
