What we are looking for
The managing producer manages a slate of non-fiction projects from a high-levelThey work closely with executive producers, producers, associate producers, engineers, contractors, and hosts on a wide range of original podcastsYou’ll work closely with top podcast distributors and touch a wide range of formats, from investigative mini-series to weekly productions.
We are looking for a seasoned production leader with experience managing budgets, setting timelines, and juggling multiple podcast projects at onceThis is a highly collaborative role that oversees a growing division of award-winning, non-fiction podcasts.

Responsibilities & duties
High-level / ongoing
Manage projects by identifying key goals, creating timelines, ensuring all deadlines are met with enough time for internal and external reviews, and ensuring successful show launches
Source, interview and hire new team members and contractors to build teams for green-lit projects; handle agreements, as well as onboarding for new members
Oversee all phases of pre-production and production, with a light touch on the development of new non-fiction projects
Build and maintain project budgets (in tandem with the director of business development and director of originals); establish project budgets for staffing and technical needs as well as maintaining costs throughout project life cycle
Create and implement new processes for individual projects, when necessary
Build and maintain a roster of external creatives for projects, including writers, composers, editors, sound designers, etc.
Day-to-day
Manage daily work-flows by communicating with producers and associate producers to ensure tasks are accomplished in accordance with the timeline and goals
Participate in weekly check-ins with team members to go over project status, timelines, concerns, questions, and other top of mind items
Liaise with legal counsel during the life cycle of projects, including legal clearance, talent and contractor agreements, review of fair use and archival materials, etc.
Provide insightful and constructive feedback on episodes during their various stages of production and post-production
Gather consolidated notes and feedback both internally and externally, and delivering timely feedback to producers and/or external teams
Manage file delivery by ensuring all files are delivered to clients for feedback and final approval on time; coordinate with third-party qc teams to ensure final deliveries are to client/partner specifications
Organize and lead post mortems at the conclusion of projects (or following certain phases)
Qualifications & skills
2+ years experience working in audio; 5+ total years experience working in relevant media (independent film, video, etc.)
Strong project management and organizational skills; finds pleasure in creating process documents or spreadsheets
Succeeds in overseeing multiple projects (in various stages of completion) simultaneously
Solid understanding of production and the logistics involved
Ability to lead a team; should find satisfaction in supporting team members to grow professionally and creatively
Excellent verbal and written communicator; brings energy and enthusiasm to meetings, calls, etc.
A love for and strong knowledge of podcasts and the podcast market
Working knowledge of g-suite, slack, and airtable
Professional level audio editing skills (with an understanding of audition and pro tools)
Reports to: director of originals
Works with: srDirector of business development, producers, ap’s, contractors.
