Astra’s federal sales unit is a small, entrepreneurial team focused on enabling the federal government to access space in the most responsive, dedicated, and affordable manner, delivering value to the taxpayer and enabling implementation of federal strategies for spaceAs the manager, national security sales, you will report to the senior director, federal salesYou will be responsible for managing the client experience of all intelligence community (ic) members, building and extending relationships throughout the ic, engaging in pre-acquisition shaping of requirements, responding to sources sought and requests for information, building teams to respond to requests for proposals, and coordinating internally and externally all aspects of post-sales to final deliveryYou will:
How you`ll fulfill your mission:
Implement astra’s federal sales strategy for all ic clients
Identify ic components with requirements that astra can serve
Build relationships with key program executive officers, contracting specialists, program examiners, and program managers
Walk opportunities through the sales pipeline from identification to close
Resolve customer issues by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to the executive team
Monitor competition by gathering marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, and marketing techniques
Coordinate closely with astra’s commercial sales unit and government relations unit
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, management, and marketing; or, qualification from the defense acquisition university / dawia certification
5+ years of experience in ic sales and the nro acquisition center of excellence, or in an ic acquisitions role
Demonstrated performance in a sales, business development, or acquisitions role
Extensive network of contacts in national reconnaissance office (nro) acquisitions staff
Outgoing personality, self-starting initiative, excellent listener and communicator, and strong negotiation skills
Able to obtain and maintain a ts/sci
Background in the fields of space, rocketry, satellites, or space services
3+ years of experience working on space acquisition programs or conducting space operations
Network of contacts in nga, cia, and other members of the ic
Itar requirements: this position requires compliance with u.sGovernment space technology trade restrictions, specifically the international trafficking in arms regulations (itar), export administration regulations (ear) and additional regulations governing satellite, launch vehicle, missile, and other related technologiesAll jobs restricted by these regulations will be contingent upon the applicant’s status as a documented u.sPerson or their ability to receive a trade license from the cognizant government agency; in addition to any required company background checks and in compliance with applicable u.sAnd california lawsSimilarly, positions requiring the ability to work on government contracts or a security clearance are also contingent upon the applicants ability to receive the appropriate clearance and be allowed to work on u.sGovernment contracts.
