About the pet cancer foundation
The pet cancer foundation’s vision is to increase the life expectancy and improve the quality of life of pets diagnosed with cancerEstimates suggest that 12m dogs and cats are developing cancer every year, roughly 6x the number of humans getting cancer yearly within north america.
We need to do more for our furry friends, and we`re building a large team of distributed, animal-loving passionate volunteers to help them and their familiesOur team requires experienced ux/ui designers to ensure our web properties look their best, while performing fast and efficientlyThat’s where and how you can help us!
The position:
We are seeking volunteer ux/ui designers to translate our business strategy into design matching our current brand identityThe position is project based when the organization has needs to add or modify pages of our online properties.
We hope to find someone with experience in online user behavior and user experience with deep knowledge of online design trends, responsive design principles, accessibility, and user-centered designPreferred would be someone who uses data (web analytics) to inform their decisions and guide their design.
Our ux/ui designers will build strong interpersonal relationships with our team, thinking critically and synthesizing data while considering the branding, design, usability, and function of our web properties.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Collaborate in discovery process for new website features and functionality
Design wire-frames, storyboards, process flows and prototypes
Collaborate with internal departStakeholders & projects managers to ensure our new design represents our organizational goals
Collaborate and take direction from our creative director to ensure our overall brand/style guide is aligned across our web properties
Collaborate as needed with any 3rd party producers (digital asset creators, photographers, video producers, etc.) to maintain design consistency across all digital properties
Act as a user advocate throughout entire design process
About you:
You should have the highest of standards and take great pride in your workFurther, you are extremely detail-oriented and proud of being a perfectionist when it comes to your completed efforts.
Ideal candidates will have a minimum 3+ years of experience in web ux/ui design along with:
Bsc/ba in digital design, computer science or related field
Strong skills in graphic-design tools such as adobe photo shop and illustrator and knowledge of prototyping tools such as in vision, sketch
Familiarity with html5, css, javascript
Familiarity with wordpress and drupal cms
A portfolio that demonstrates the ability to design for all screen sizes from mobile to desktop
Strong visual design, product design, usability, and communication skills

This position works virtually from anywhere in canada or the united states.
Expectations regarding a time commitment vary as all work is project based and on demand.
Volunteers on average serve the organization 4-6 hours per week, additional time and flexibility are highly project-dependent and may be required.
