Air is currently seeking a part-time legal analyst to join our youth, family & community development program area within air’s human services divisionThe legal analyst will join our national reentry resource center (nrrc) project.
This work would be temporary with a project duration of approximately six (6) monthsAdditional opportunities beyond the initial period are possible but not guaranteedIndividuals would be expected to work no less than 20 hours/week, with the option to work up to 40 hours/week.
Funded and administered by the u.sDepartment of justice’s office of justice programs, bureau of justice assistance (bja), the national reentry resource center (nrrc) is the nation’s primary source of information and guidance in reentryAs part of the project, the nrrc hosts two clearinghouse resources to support the reentry field:
Clean slate clearinghouse (csc) provides information on juvenile and adult criminal record clearance policies in all u.sState and territories and is designed for use by people with criminal records, legal service providers, reentry providers, and state policymakers.
National inventory of collateral consequences of conviction (niccc) is an online searchable database that identifies and categorizes the statutes and regulations that impose collateral consequences on individuals convicted of crimes in all 50 states, the federal system, and the district of columbia, u.sVirgin islands, and puerto rico.
The person hired for this position will have the option to work remotely.

Air is seeking individuals with j.d.s and currently practicing lawyers to update state laws and regulations for the 2019-2022 legislative sessions across each state (all 50 plus dc, puerto rico) and the federal governmentsIndividuals would be responsible for searching lexisnexis using a pre-defined search string and methodology to (1) review state laws and regulations currently in the inventories for accuracy/existence, making revisions as needed, and (2) identify new laws and regulations for consequences and criminal records clearance mechanisms to add to the inventories, respectively.
Individuals would then incorporate updates and additions for each state into existing databases as well as apply appropriate characteristics for each new law/regulation including:
Csc: clearance mechanism and process, waiting period, disqualifications, discretion, fees, and effect
Niccc: consequence type, relevant statutory subsections and related laws, relevant keywords, offense type, discretion, and duration.
Education, knowledge, and experience:
Recently awarded juris doctorate (j.d.) degree (within the last five years)
Experience using lexisnexis
Experience using and updating spreadsheets/databases
Highly detail-oriented and organized
Self-motivated and able to work independently
