Ameresco is currently seeking a senior project developer to work with ameresco`s distribution energy generation group.
Develop solar generation facilities within assigned territories;
Develop deep knowledge of the solar stakeholders within a development territoryKeep knowledge current and develop responses to changes in the development environmentTo include:
Legislation supporting a solar program
Public utility commission (or equivalent) rules regarding solar generation in a region
Electric utilities and local power companies – goals, constraints, and opportunities for solar facilities
For programmatic solar, interconnection queues, programmatic limits, and regional incentives or prohibitions
Secure sites with land lease or land purchase options in areas that are favorable for solar.
Proximity to 3 phase lines and substations
Land that is buildable and permittable
Perform detailed due diligence using prescribed tools and analytical techniques for de-risking a project as early as possible in the development cycle while preserving development capital;
Manage the interconnection process with support from ameresco technical professionals as needed;
Manage the permitting process with the authority having jurisdiction (ahj) and represent the company as needed at permitting meetings and hearings;
If applicable, take responsibility for all rfp opportunities and associated proposals;
Establish relationships with solar development resources within assigned territoriesThis may include meeting and selecting qualified trade partners, construction companies, engineering resources, etc;
As applicable, secure offtake for the energy of solar projectsThis may involve securing subscribers or other off-takers via a ppa;
As applicable, seek out opportunities to partner with other developers where our ability to build a solar portfolio is enhancedThis may involve co-development partners or parties selling early-stage development projects;
Build and maintain financial models of solar projects with the goal of determining project viability within stated financial goals;
Assess the closing probability and closing timeframe of each prospect and establish annual business development goals; forecast sales closures, and determine business development strategies;
Represent the company at selected conferences; tradeshows; events; and in the public forum; advancing the market awareness of the ameresco value proposition;
Lead the contract and price dialogue with new prospects and repeat clients in a way that expedites the contract process and minimizes cost resistance;
Identify and connect with government; trade groups; public interest groups; and other market sector influence contacts as needed to advance the company`s interests in the market;
Collaborate with the operations staff in moving individual projects into the implementation phase and engaging operations and client resources as needed to measure and analyze performance and project outcomes;
Contribute toward the development of the organization’s overall strategic planning and management reporting processes and
Perform other duties as required.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
7 years’ successful leadership experience driving or being a part of development teams to develop and secure multi-million-dollar energy projects.
Additional preferred qualifications:
Proven advancement of the selling process from initial outreach to presentation to proposal development to contract negotiation is required.
Proven track record of securing sales of complex offerings from top-level management.
Demonstrated sales lead development and account cultivation skills, including effective negotiation and closing techniques.
Solid understanding of structured finance concepts and vehicles such as roi, npv, financial proformas, ppa’s, telp’s etcExperience selling financial benefit and structure to cbos, cfos and financial advisors.
Excellent verbal, written, computer communication, and technical presentation skills.
Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and positive business relationships.
