We are seeking a senior research scientist with deep expertise in survey design and developmentWhile we prefer someone with a social science or behavioral research background (e.g., i/o psychology, social psychology, sociology, political science, or anthropology), we are also open to experience in public health, economics, or similar fieldsIn this role, you will lead and support research efforts within diversity, equity and inclusion (dei) space.
You will be a thought leader on the team, partnering with a diverse set of colleagues and stakeholders to identify and develop impactful areas for novel research about dei outcomesYou will mentor and provide scientific expertise/peer review to other scientists and on the team.
The ideal candidate should have strong problem-solving skills, excellent business acumen, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and have an expertise in creating, developing, reviewing, executing, and analyzing surveysThe candidate will need to navigate complex and ambiguous business challenges by asking the right questions, understanding what methodologies to employ, and communicating results to multiple audiences (e.g., technical peers, functional teams, business leaders).

Key job responsibilities
Designing, developing, and executing survey research to help us understand employee sentiment on employee experience
Leading scientific direction, providing consult, mentorship, and peer review.
Partnering closely and driving effective collaborations across multi-disciplinary science, analytics, hr, and business teams.
Reviewing and scoping research requests, and recommending appropriate scientific methodologies.
Meeting with business and hr leaders for requirements gathering for scoping projects.
Experience with both statistical analysis and survey design required.
Communicating findings and business impact effectively (written and verbally) with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience with experimental design (including quasi-experimental) is a bonus.
A day in the life
This role would work closely with science leadership within pxt central science and with vps and leaders in the business that are leading dei programs and help with science vision and strategy.
About the team
Our team is a growing multidisciplinary mix of research scientists, data scientists, qualitative and mixed methods researchers and economists all focused on science related to diversity, equity and inclusion across all of amazon businesses.

Experience in experimental design or quasi-experimental design and observational studies
Experience conducting longitudinal surveys over multiple waves
Advanced statistics and machine learning experience (ridge/lasso/hierarchical regressions, hierarchical linear modeling, longitudinal data analysis, survival analysis, sem/path analysis)
Highly adaptable, creative, and thrives in a fast-paced work environment
Research background in work and occupations , i/o psych, hr, or diversity/equity/inclusion
