The position of plant maintenance technician will be instrumental in helping repair and maintain all stationary equipment including, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, augers, hoppers, pneumatic systems, electrical systems, pumps etcOn ready-mix and pug mill plantsThis position will also require some mechanical work on rolling equipment i.eFront-end loaders and skid steersAll while maintaining a safety first attitudeAdhere with all company standards, policies and procedures, as well as compliance with all federal and state regulations, including osha, tceq etc.
Duties & responsibilities
Will troubleshoot, perform repairs, rebuilds and maintenance of all equipment.
Will aid in identifying the root cause in failures and report to supervisor.
Dismantle and reassembles equipment, using hoist, fork lifts, cranes and hand tools.
Examines parts for damage and excessive wear and report issues to supervisor.
Replaces defective parts effectively, efficiently and safely.
Perform basic cutting and welding jobs.
Tests equipment when done with work to ensure operating correctly.
Servicing equipment as necessary.
Inventory and maintain assigned truck and tools.
Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or experience: high school diploma or general education degree (ged) preferredA basic working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, cutting/welding, mechanicals and other ready- mix related componentsCdl is preferred, but not required
Computer skills: experience with microsoft office products and some ability to adapt to other computer softwareUse of smart phones in opening up files while working remotely.
Welding skills: experience with mig and stick welding a plus, but not required.
Mechanical experience: experience with heavy machinery is also preferred, but not required.
Overtime will be required, along with working one saturday a monthApplicant must possess a valid driver s license and must meet summit materials mvr requirementsWork in all weather conditions within reason keeping safety of one s self and team in mind.
Consists working on-site at plants in the outdoors and in workshopsOn site work consists of activities which include navigating heights, machinery and exposure to elements such as dust, changes in temperature and weatherRequired safety equipment will be issued and policies and procedures focused on safety will apply.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicateThis position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing at timesThe employee must frequently lift or move items up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 75 poundsMust be able to frequently climb stairs and laddersWill require working with heights on equipment and in man basketsMust be able to safely maintain 3 points of contact when applicableExcellent interpersonal skills; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, employees and managersEffective conflict resolution abilitiesAbility to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written formAbility to read, write and do mathematicsMust be self-motivated with ability to complete multiple projects a day while doing quality work.
