This year, american refugee committee became alightWe’re the same organization with the same people doing the same critical work – providing health care and clean water, shelter, protection, and economic opportunity to more than 3.5 million people in 17 countries each yearBut in solidarity with the people we serve who are too often defined by a single dark moment in their lives, we’re dropping the label ‘refugee.’
What is alight’s talent community? the talent community includes a team of business development & proposal writing professionals, who are eager to take action with limited notice to work on short-term assignmentsCommunity members will be contacted when opportunities arise to provide critical coverage while staff are on leave, during times of surge need, as well as new program startup.
The terms of reference (tor) for each assignment will differ and may focus on assessments, proposal development, or project management.

Experience we’re seeking broadly speaking, consultants will have the experience and skills outlined below:
International experience; ability to adapt well in multicultural and security sensitive contexts
7-9 years of related experience in humanitarian / development settings, which may entail:
Track record and success leading, writing, and managing the end to end proposal process
Identifying and tracking funding opportunities, including donor solicitations, strategic plans, presentations, and current projects in and countries of interest.
Coordination of context specific as well as complex multi-organization or multi-country opportunities
Experience in managing and working with a multicultural staff.
Experience with usaid, ofda, bprm, eu, and un agencies preferred.
Strong computer literacy; strong skills in microsoft office.
Fluency in english
Highly motivated self-starter who takes direction well, but also works independently.
