Primary job responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Work within a high performing team to create new production machinery designs
Assist in creating and executing design activities using lean new product introduction procedures
Resolve production issues through machine design
Perform stress analysis, flow analysis, analyze designs, and validate calculations
Analyze design concepts and down select using a structured methodology
Validate designs and design improvements for high-speed manufacturing
Support manufacturing teams by providing design support and troubleshooting assistance
Work with cross-functional teams to develop new products and associated production equipment
Ensure the correct level of design is available for tooling projects and solutions are aligned with the needs of the project manager
Required experience:
>3 years of experience using 3d cad for machine design (inventor preferred or solidworks as an alternate)
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills
Experience working as a member of a high performing team
Project management experience, exposure to pmi principles
Experience in a manufacturing environment (design for manufacturing or operations support)
Preferred experience:
>8 years of 3d cad experience
Extrusion die design experience
Injection molding design experience
Plastic manufacturing experience
Experience in plastic component design
Knowledge of polymer rheology a plus
Experience generating a combination of hand calculations, code calculations, fea and cfd analysis
Experience reviewing calculations or defending calculations presented to external customers a plus
Compuplast software experience is a plus.
Job skills:
This position should possess the following skills/knowledge:
3d modeling (inventor is preferred)
Gd&t, drawing comprehension, and cad navigation (2d & 3d) o strong communication skills both written and verbal
Ms office suite of software (excel, powerpoint, project, word, outlook, etc.) o systematic problem-solving skills including the use of the 5 why, 8-d, and a-3 process
Daily management or project management fundamentals
Physical requirements:
Work in a manufacturing climate of various locations (texas, california, florida, new york, etc.)
Travel up to 25%
Work safely in and around plant equipment
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
