Position overview
The billing director will proactively lead and manage all operational aspects of the ochin billing services (obs) department, developing team members in their professional growth, and ensuring our members receive high quality and high value billing and coding services and revenue cycle professional servicesThe billing director will support the mission and strategy of ochin and the department’s sponsoring executive leader.
Essential duties
Oversee and ensure team functions run smoothly, including strategic relationship building with key stakeholders; including other ochin departments, clients and non-clients.
Manage any obs installs and actively pursue the addition of new obs members.
Execution of team goals and objectives in alignment with organizational priorities and goals.
Prioritize projects in alignment of organizational goals and objectives.
Ensure timely billing practices to and for members and claim recovery from all payment sources.
Identify and resolve issues ensuring risks are mitigated and issues are escalated when appropriate.
Approve all respective employees timesheets on their teams
Creating team and individual goals in coordination with organizational goals and developing a strategy for the team to execute and achieve these goals.
Motivating team members to meet or exceed departmental goals.
Overall performance of team(s), processes, people and resources.
Plan, implement and monitor accounting processes and procedures.
Accountable for overall compliance and organizational policies within team(s).
Advocating in the best interest of the team, our members, and for the organization as a whole.
Lead by example and being a role model of ochin’s values by exhibiting positive behavior to the rest of the team.
Direct team communications to ensure team has necessary information and necessary tools to be productive.
Interview and hire the right people.
Review and approve team timecards, pto, etcIn compliance with organizational policies.
Overall performance of team, including employee issues; communicating and resolving issues as needed with relevant parties (executive, human resources, etc.).
Completing and conducting performance reviews.
Mentoring supervisors and senior supervisors and developing their management skills and acumen.
Ensuring that relevant and valuable technical skills are assessed, measured and developed for billing team members.
Best billing practices (practice management)
Communicating and sharing information to relevant parties regarding team (decision, outcomes, accomplishments, performance, learnings, best practices, etc.)
Keeping abreast of regulatory and technological changes that may impact the revenue cycle for our members and collaborating with ochin staff to find solutions to address environmental changes
Expected to become a sme with the epic resolute system
Expected to become a sme with edi system
Expected to be able to analyze the revenue cycle for each and every billing client and determine current state, issues and create solutions when needed
Expected to run daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports from multiple systems (epic, clarity, mrFlibble, and other disparate systems) to gage, measure and optimize client revenue cycle performance
Ensure a culture of learning, growth and development where employees empowered to improve processes, create new solutions and improve workflows
Reviews operational/team processes to ensure they are effective, documented and followed
Lead performance improvement activities to refine internal processes and customer service
Support the analysis, planning, implementation and evaluation of all process improvement projects
Communicate with individuals and project leaders to deliver the best solution for the process improvement projects
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business management or healthcare administration preferred
8 or more years managing billing services for multiple clients or managing community health centers
A background in clinic management or healthcare is a plus
Experience working with a diverse patient population and customer environment and bilingual or multilingual skills are desirable.
Solid customer relationship and customer service experience is required
Full knowledge of hipaa, medicare and medicaid
Knowledge of and experience with fqhc (federally qualified health center) and rhc (rural health center) unique reimbursement requirements is highly desired
Desired certifications include: cpc and/or cdc, epic certification, medical billing and coding certification
Work location and travel requirements
This position is 100% remoteWork from home requirements are:
Ability to work independently and efficiently from a home office environment.
High speed internet service.
It is a requirement that employees work in a distraction free workplace.
Travel may be required based on business requirements for ochin go-live events, 1-2 trips per year
