Title of position: nurse-community health worker(chw) project coordinator
Research labs: the center for latino adolescent and family health (clafh) & the center for drug use and hiv/hcv research (cduhr)

This nih study will test the effectiveness of an intervention designed to promote covid testing uptake, adoption of covid control measures, and mutual aid capacity at the household levelThe findings from this study will provide an evidence-base to inform current and future public health initiatives related to covid-19 mitigation in underserved and vulnerable communities.
The nurse-community health worker project coordinator will report to drGuilamo-ramosDrGuilamo-ramos directs the center for latino adolescent and family health, which seeks to foster the development, evaluation, and dissemination of evidence-based interventions designed to promote positive latino youth development, and examine and address issues such as immigration and their impact on latino families and communitiesCduhr is an nih-funded center that supports transdisciplinary research to prevent and treat hiv, hcv, overdose, and substance use.
The nurse-chw project coordinator will have experience and knowledge in the coordination and oversight of both nursing practice (e.gTriage; medical case management and monitoring) and research (e.gStudy implementation) activities.
Description of duties and responsibilities:
Oversee the hiring and training of project staff
Liaise with principal investigators to make decisions for operational activities and to set strategic goals
Conduct structured and intensive trainings for community health workers and nurses in the delivery of intervention components to families
Serve as part of the human subjects unit involved in the monitoring of human subjects concerns in implementation of testing and other covid-19 mitigation strategies
Coordinate day-to-day implementation of intervention activities
Coordination of community health nurses:
Oversee the triage, medical case management, monitoring, referrals to care and follow-up of individuals identified to have covid-19 or any other acute health emergencies
Oversee the delivery of covid-19 testing
Coordinate with the lab technician in the maintenance of covid-test results and in returning test results to families.
Coordination of community health workers:
Oversee the linkage and navigation of families to ancillary services when indicated (ie social welfare, vocational)
Lead in the provision of culturally appropriate and accessible health information for families.
Coordinate the delivery of psychosocial support and stigma reduction to families
Qualifications for position:
New york state nursing certification (rn) required
Graduate degree (np, mph, ms, phd) preferred
Experience as a project director or project coordinator
Bilingual and bi-cultural preferred
Cultural competence working with latinos and african americans
Understanding of the importance of cultural humility
Research experience in community intervention and prevention practices
Strong commitment to working in communities with health disparities.
Skills and knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of the bronx community and prevention/treatment service needs of families
Supervisory experience in large-scale community prevention projects
Content expertise in overseeing and implementing community-based interventions
Excellent organizational, management, and leadership skills
Experience working in resource limited settings
