Financial grants specialist
Position summary:
The financial grants specialist has diverse, hands-on experience in general accounting and finance, grants and contractsThe financial grants specialist is a member of the finance team who works closely with and reports to the finance directorThe financial grants specialist is expected to understand overall departmental functions and provide support with general accounting, finance, grants, and contractsThe financial grants specialist has knowledge and preparation of reporting related to federal financial reporting requirements, and associated draw-downs for reimbursement of costs incurred by federal programs and private foundation grant reporting.
Duties and responsibilities:
Work with internal staff to ensure accurate processing of all financial transactions submitted to the accounting/finance office.
Assist with developing budget assumptions and narratives for all federal and private foundation program budgetsCoordinate budgeting efforts with the finance and development teams.
Assist with ncuih's cost allocation plan, along with updating and maintaining project funding and allocations in coordination with program directors and managers.
Assist with implementing and maintaining strong internal financial controls and financial
Procedures.
Coordinate receipt of awards and contract documentationAssist with maintaining funding records in the financial accounting systemMaintain records of all grants files in proper and up-to- date conditions, including agreements, and copies of all reports submitted to funding agencies.
Assist with coordinating data between the accounting/finance system, payroll system, and the grants management system.
Assist with maintaining accurate and timely records in the accounting/finance and the grants management systems.

Assist with communicating financial data that reflects performance against approved budgets.
Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.
Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting functions.
Assist with preparing monthly reports and reconciliations, including cyclical compliance reports (i.e., sf-425 reports, monthly billings).
Assist with annual year-end process and provide external auditors with documentation and analyses in response to requests for financial information.
Perform monthly/quarterly account reconciliations as assigned.
Assist in closing the monthly and annual fiscal year end books, as needed.
Assist with grant administration duties, as needed.
Maintain confidentiality of all financial data.
In charge of special projects for the department.
Perform other related duties as assigned and required.
Requirements and qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration is required.
Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in nonprofit accounting, finance, or
BudgetingAdvanced degree may substitute for work experience.
Strong working knowledge of the uniform guidance (omb super circular 200).
Knowledge of grants and reporting requirements.
Demonstrated strong accounting, finance, audit, budgetary, and analytical skills.
Excellent organization teamwork, written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent communication and analytical skills are essential.
Ability to work independently within expressed parameters; completing regularly scheduled tasks and adherence to strict deadlines are essential.
Must be adaptable to rapidly changing priorities and can manage multiple projects with varying deadlines.
Intermediate to advanced excel skills.
Previous experience with fund accounting software packages, and complex nonprofit budgets and programs.
