Web product manager
A growing start-up in the electric car space needs you to manage our electric vehicle (ev) web products and be a thought leader in the industry
Zappyride is a software start-up focused on making electric vehicles (evs) more accessible to consumers and businessesWe work with electric utilities (pg&e, xcel energy, austin energy), automakers (ford) and leading non-profits (plug in america, veloz) to make electric cars a reality.
We were early to see the ev transition, and with evs making only a small fraction of vehicles in the us, think it’s just the beginningAs a 3-year-old startup, we have achieved product-market fit and our sales pipeline is strongWe currently have a team of 11 ftes, mostly engineers and data analysts.
Our products focus on helping users make the right decisions around electric vehicles (evs), and much of it is through calculations, such as:
Total cost of ownership (tco) of a vehicle
Trip planning and time to charge evs
Cost of charging infrastructure
Impact of evs on electric bill
Business case for fleet electrification
We strive to find the right balance of new and proven technologies in software designOur tech stack uses react.js, php/laravel, and aws infrastructure.
We are based in new york city, and work with clients all over the united states and canada.
Your mission: lead the strategy, feature prioritization and delivery of our web-based ev software offering.
Product roadmap (~30% of your time):
Engage clients, prospects, end-users, subject matter experts, and our leadership team to identify product opportunities in the ev market
Head product management efforts for web product requirements and roadmap
Prioritize projects, features, and tickets across our entire web product offering
Capture and prioritize requirements and translate them into user stories
Translate user stories into functional and technical requirements
Conduct user research and testing
Define and track success metrics
Product delivery to clients (~ 70%)
Supervise web product delivery through design, build, launch and maintenance phases
Work with our software developers to deliver scope on time and on budget
Collaborate with our engineering team to ensure back-end and infrastructure needs are met
Balance conflicting needs and desires between customers, management, data, design, and engineering teams
Ensure client satisfaction via high quality work and responsiveness
Advocate on behalf of the end users of the web products
Take initiative in identifying opportunities for additional client work
Assist clients with technical requests and ensure resolution of issues
Perform quality assurance / quality control

The ideal candidate:
Has 2 to 5 years of experience in software or web product management
Experience working with electric utilities and/or exposure to electric vehicles
Demonstrable successful client work delivery (e.g., where you product managed launch or enhancements to a website or web or mobile application)
Full product lifecycle experience: conception, launch, maintenance, end of life of features and product(s)
Has at least some experience leading small teams, including matrix management of engineering teams
Values high quality of work and attention to detail
Is based in the new york city area or anywhere in the us, willing to come to nyc 4x/year
Has ambition to make a dent in the auto/clean energy industry and is interested in investing time to constantly improve as a professional
