The associate product manager defines and evangelizes the overall strategy and vision for a single product/product areaS/he understand the customer and market needs and drives development priorities to maximize the product value.
Primary/essential duties and key responsibilities:
Manage the product backlog, ideas, and dependencies
Conduct on-going market discovery to:
O understand competitive landscape and market differentiation of product
O track industry trends
O engage with key customers
Represent the product on critical internal, customer and prospect interactions
Work with engineering, business analyst and ux resources to:
O identify key feature goals, user personas and scenarios, remove roadblocks, set priorities
O provide feedback and insight on ux and functional designs
O deliver feature commitments on time and on budget
Help brings customer escalations to closure and identify cross domain dependencies
Product management skills
O manages short, medium and long term roadmaps
O assists sales and services in product inquiries
O conducts effective product demos
Domain knowledge and discovery
O researches industry trends
O performs competitive swot analysis
O identifies user profiles specific to the product
Prioritization and risk management
O prunes and adjusts backlog as needed
O identifies dependencies
O identifies and monitors key metrics
O details and prioritizes user scenarios to be addressed in feature development
O provides feedback on technical/functional/user designs from engineering, ux and business analysts
1- 3 years domain expertise
2+ years within an agile development environment as a product owner or business analyst
