Our specialty actuarial team is currently seeking an associate actuary in either our worcester, ma or windsor, ct office or virtual work location considerationThis is a full time, exempt role.
This position will play a lead role in the management liability actuarial practice, including driving pricing segmentation, portfolio management, planning, and product developmentThis profitable $100 million business unit contains a diverse array of products and claims made coverages ranging from employment practices liability and directors and officer’s liability to more specialized products such as cyber and crimeThis position reports to the avp and actuary of professional and executive linesThis is a highly visible position, working closely with both the management liability leadership team, claims, product, finance, and the broader actuarial and analytics community.
Pursuit of fcas professional designation preferred.
In this role, you will:
Lead analysis in support of overall pricing strategy including continued advancements in segmentation of new and renewal pricing
Proactively manage the profitability of the business through regular state of the line analysis as well as segmented profitability reviews
Play a critical role in the actuarial planning process, including ibnr forecasting, trend analysis, and rate actions
Balance influencing and negotiating skills with thoughtful collaboration to achieve the most appropriate actions to achieve sustainable profitable growth
Pursue opportunities leveraging internal and external data to drive continual improvement of pricing
Remain nimble in working with both more mature segments of business and newer capabilities such as financial institution and cyber
Prepare or assist in the preparation of filing exhibits and system specifications to implement required rate actions
What you need to apply:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant technical field
Five or more years of technical experience in multiple lob and/or actuarial disciplines such as pricing, reserving or advanced analytics.
Acas designation or higher or relevant work experience
Advanced communication skills, ability to communicate and influence both technical and non-technical audiences
Advanced skills using microsoft office, including excel
Possesses a detailed understanding of the data sources used within the core discipline.
Understands fundamental concepts, practices and procedures relevant to core actuarial discipline.
Intermediate programming skills, including the ability to develop and automate processes
Able to apply and interpret company policies and procedures
Applies project management skills to schedule, organize and complete assigned tasks accurately and on time
