The clinical advisor of nurse practitioner and physician assistant services role will serve as an educator, resource, and practice facilitator for nurse practitioners and physician assistants (np/pa) in hospital medicine and critical care service linesThe clinical advisor of np/pa services ensures coordination and continuity of care by np/pa as it relates to developing and implementing training protocols, onboarding, clinical guidance, the scope of practice, and utilization implementation in both hospital medicine and critical careThe clinical advisor of np/pa services will collaborate with the facility medical director, gmo, regional directors of np/pa services, and clinical operating teamsThe clinical advisor of np/pa services will report to the vice president of np/pa services, with close reporting and collaboration with the chief medical officer in hospital medicine and critical careThe clinical advisor of np/pa services in addition to their advising role, will work clinically in hospital medicine and/or critical careThis position is 50% administrative and 50% clinical.
Support organizational commitment to quality and participate in organization-wide strategic planning related to quality and clinical performance.
Assist in the development and utilization of nurse practitioners and physician assistants as it relates to qualifications and certifications necessary to practice within their scope.
Support hospital governing body or designee and clinical operations staff regarding the scope of practice and utilization in conjunction with facility medical directors (e.g., delineation of privileges, risk management).
In conjunction with scp np/pa leadership, facilitate the development of clinical performance and quality structure of np/pa through councils and committees.
Facilitate communication to facility medical director and np/pa providers regarding training, development, and onboarding of np/pa in respective service lines.
Collaborates with cmo, goo, gmo, and division president to support financial management and profitability related to investment for expansion of np/pa utilization in hospital medicine and critical care.
Assist the organization in maintaining awareness of statutory and regulatory requirements for np/pa (e.g., cms, hipaa, osha, ppaca, emtala).
Assist in identifying appropriate accreditation, certification, and recognition options pertaining to the utilization of nurse practitioners and physician assistants (e.g., nccpa, ancc, anp, acnp).
Participate in the process for evaluating compliance with internal and external requirements for
A) clinical practice guidelines and pathways (e.g., controlled substance prescribing and formulary use, independent practice)
B) service quality
C) documentation relating to patient encounters
D) practitioner clinical evaluation (e.g., peer review, credentialing, privileging)
E) deficiencies in the patient experience and bad clinical outcomes (e.g., surveys, complaint process, risk management)
F) identification of reportable events for accreditation and licensing maintenance to regulatory bodies.
Assist with maintenance and state-required documentation for np/pa practice in collaboration with scp corporate compliance department and legal department.
Communicate performance, process, and quality improvement training for nurse practitioners and physician assistants in hospital medicine and critical care in conjunction with the facility medical director and np/pa leadership (e.g., clinical leadership orientation, new graduate proctorship, medical leadership training).
Provide education and training on performance, process, and quality improvement in collaboration with the facility medical director (e.g., including improvement methods).
Evaluate the effectiveness of performance and quality improvement training.
Disseminate performance, process, and quality improvement information within the organization through direct reporting to clinical leadership.
Communicate all practice standards and procedures to the facility medical director, np/pa leadership, and np/pa providers through memos, letters, electronic means, policy manuals, and employee handbooks.
Enforces and promotes company policies and procedures to promote a fair and equitable culture across the organization.
Assist with requirements for hospital medicine and critical care hiring practices, engagement, and retention of nurse practitioners and physician assistant workforce.
Assist in outlining requirements of qualifications needed to hire nurse practitioners and physician assistants in both hospital medicine and critical care in collaboration with the medical director, np/pa leadership and/or staffing operations team.
In conjunction with the facility medical director, conducts the onboarding and orientation of new hire np/pa providers to include new graduate training plan and execution.
Recommend and identify those nurse practitioners and physician assistants that will need performance improvement based on failure to achieve outlined clinical guidelines and execution.
Provide clinical care within the scope of practice.
Maintain clinical credentials at company designated facilities and work an average of no more than 5 to 7 clinical shifts per month as defined and approved by the vice president of np/pa services and/or chief medical officer.
Educational and professional qualifications:
Master's degree, post-master's degree, or dnp with acute care concentration required.
Degree in healthcare administration, business administration or finance, preferred.
American nurses credentialing center (ancc) aagacnp-bc or american association of nurse practitioners (aanp), acnpc-ag (acute care certification required) and,
Basic life support (bls).
Advanced cardiac life support (acls)
Strong technical skills to include microsoft office
Previous salesforce experience helpful
Approximately 25% monthly air travel requirement, nationally
Set forth any required licenses as an acute care nurse practitioner.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience as an acute care nurse practitioner in hospital medicine and critical care medicineMinimum of two (2) years of managerial/supervisory experience.
