Homecare coding team leader job location: anywhere in the united statesThis role is eligible for work-from-home statusThe majority of current corridor staff work remotely, from their homesJob summary:
Leads a small team of coders for a specific client or several clients using a specific coding/oasis review workflow processActivities will include but not limited to assisting in establishing and maintaining company and agencies workflow process related to coding activities, ensuring productivity measures are being met, resolving disputes with agencies as needed, working with any external coding teams to ensure standardization of processes and working with qa team to ensure quality standards are being metThe employee must be able to function with a high degree of independence and considerable discretionThe employee must be able to act independently as a representative for the management or leadership teamReports to the coding manager or other designated leadership as needed.
Summary of essential skills/qualifications:
Homecare coding certified (hcs-d or bchh-c) and oasis certification such as
Must have both cos-c and hcs-o certification
Medical coding experience is required
Experience working with various electronic medical records is preferred
Prior supervisory experience a plus
Carry out and attain the mission and the goals of the business
Direct, supervise and evaluate work activities of the coding team
Maintain quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards
Establish work schedules and assignments for staff, according to workload, space and equipment availability
Maintains coding guidelines
Reviews and utilizes available resources to enhance coding skills and actively participates in coding meetings and educational sessions
Receives information on regulatory changes and implements those changes into regular coding practice
Maintain coding guidelines
Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new employees onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to relate well in a remote environment under the supervision of coding managers
Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals
Delegate responsibilities and expect accountability and regular feedback
Flexibility as may be asked to work on additional projects
Lead employees using a performance review; and develop a process that provides an overall context and framework to encourage employee contribution and includes goal setting, feedback, and performance development planning
Lead employees to meet the organization’s expectations for productivity
Provide effective performance feedback through employee recognition and disciplinary action with the assistance of coding manager and human resources, when necessary
Responds to agency inquiries and complaints
Attends conferences and training - some traveling may be required
Other duties and projects as assigned
