Front-End Developer - Shopify

• Employment Type: Full-time
• Location: Remote within Canada

Our ideal candidate is a keen web developer with a passion for the work they produce, a drive to grow their knowledge and experience, and possesses the ability to clearly communicate technical requirements and challenges. You will work closely with a team of strategists, designers, and experienced developers to create leading ecommerce experiences that are user-focused, beautiful and engaging, highly performant, and written with future reuse and maintainability in mind.

• Implement the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript required to develop and maintain Shopify themes and dynamic storefront experiences.
• Write clean semantic code, emphasizing performance, usability, and accessibility.
• Identify and develop reusable patterns with component-based code.
• Research, test, and setup Shopify apps.
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team including developers, designers, and project managers.
• Stay up to date and make recommendations regarding front-end technologies.
• Learn from other experienced developers and career growth mentors.
• Work in agile sprints and participate in daily project stand-ups (via Zoom).
• Perform cross-device QA testing to support multiple browsers and device types.

• Shopify development work experience (2+ year minimum)
• Solid understanding of modern front-end development techniques and solutions
• Experienced with writing modern CSS including CSS Grid and Flexbox
• Experienced with writing solid and well-crafted JavaScript (vanilla, ES6)
• Familiarity with developing for performance, accessibility and technical SEO
• Experienced with component-based or “atomic design” principles.
• Knowledgeable about version control with Git.
• Experienced with agile working sprints and daily project stand-ups

• Familiarity and experience with Shopify Online Store 2.0
• Experience with Shopify APIs (GraphQL and/or REST)
• Familiarity with React and/or Headless Shopify
• Familiarity setting up tracking pixels and integrating with analytics tools like Google Analytics (GA4) and GT

• Able to strategize rapidly and are comfortable presenting your knowledge and ideas to others.
