Job Description

The Risk Operations Tooling team builds internally facing solutions to help protect Square and our sellers from a wide array of risk vectors. This full stack role involves building backend services to take automated actions to protect our ecosystem, and building front end experiences to empower our risk management customer success teams to move fast and make important decisions.

This is an opportunity to grow and influence the direction of a strategic new team. Our engineers work on small teams with people across engineering, product, and creative functions to build reliable, fast, responsive, and beautiful software. Square has a remote first organizational strategy, and you’ll work in a team which is remote based with opportunities to travel. We believe that nobody starts any role as an expert. We’re looking for motivated individuals with a desire to build remarkable solutions.

You will:

Design, implement, and maintain tools based on the Square Risk organizations needs.
Navigate through multiple APIs, find solutions, make thoughtful trade offs to provide the best outcomes.
Hold your teammates and yourself to a high standard of engineering while building capabilities that have a huge impact on sellers daily operations.
Embrace build, measure, and learn development iterations to bring functionality to life

Qualifications

You have:

2+ years of software engineering experience
Experience building products end to end with other experienced engineers - creating engineering designs, building the code, writing tests, deploying changes, and support.
Metrics-oriented mindset: you want your work to be measurable and impactful
Excellent command of one or more object-oriented programming languages, including C, C++, Objective-C, Java, Ruby, Scala, Go, or Python.
Empathy for your customers and colleagues
Eagerness to share your own ideas, and openness to those of others
