Position Overview: 

Brilliant Earth is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to join our newly formed IT team and report to the Sr. Director of Enterprise Applications & Analytics.  

You will play a critical and meaningful role in building & delivering data analytics products that are in line with the overall data strategy of IT and of the business that have a substantial impact to the business.  

You will own the design, development & implementation of fault-tolerant scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines into the single-source-of-truth data analytics platform. You will be partnering to build data infrastructure that brings together CRM, marketing, product, and operational functions and informs strategic & tactical decision making at various levels of the company. You will closely collaborate with the data architect to prepare data for analytical and operational uses and for data-scientists & analysts to easily retrieve for analytics & insights.

What you’ll do:   

• Design, build & optimize data pipelines (real time & batch) from disparate sources that ingest semi-structured, structured data & APIs into the data platform. 

• Partner with your team and stakeholders to understand business/functional requirements and translate that into technical solutions. 

• Collaborate with analytics, insights & various teams to automate data needs and scale the data platform to support a growth business 

• Work with various third-party systems to Integrate data bi-directionally. 

• Data warehousing, data governance, debugging & performance tuning.  

• Ensure consistency and quality through metrics, documentation, processes, data testing, and training. 

• Define and manage SLAs for data delivery and processes running in production 

• Demonstrate a love of data engineering – spending 80% of the time on hands-on development using Talend, Python, Snowflake & AWS eco system. 

You’re a great candidate if you have:   

• 5+ Hands on experience working on ETL data pipelines technologies using Talend/Snaplogic/Workato or Python 

• 5+ Hands on experience with AWS services, streaming data processing web services, REST APIs, SOA & Airflow. 

• 5+ Hands on experience using SQL, data warehouse design & databases like Snowflake/Redshift is a big plus. 

• 5+ years’ experience in a data engineer role, including demonstrated success supporting CRM (SFDC), Operations & marketing teams. 

• Analytics skills such as machine learning, analytic models, predictive algorithms are a plus. 

• Proven track record of collaborating with offshore & remote teams, possessing good verbal, written and presentation skills with the ability to form good working relationships at all levels both internally and externally.
